Srixon Z-TX 2 irons

Has anyone compared the Z-TX 2 to the Cleveland CG-16 Tours? Obviously they are going to feel different because the CG's are 431 Cast and the Srixon's are forged.

I'm coming from Mizuno JPX-800 Pro's and what I'm after is a sharper leading edge and slimmer sole. I'm a +2 handicap so my ballstriking is good but I'm a sweeper and the heavily blunted leading edge of the 800 Pro just didn't suit me.

I'm looking at these 2 models because I like a little forgiveness and becuase the sole designs look to be better for a sweeper like myself.

For those who have compared both what are they like aesthetically: head size, topline, sole width, sole grind, offset?

And also what are they like in terms of performance: stock trajectory, trajectory control (i.e., can / cannot be knocked down or shaped), forgiveness?

I've serach exhaustively and have not found any comparisons. Any help would be much appreciated.

Just wanted to make a quick post.

Picked up a set of ZTX 2's w/KBS C Taper s flex. I was looking around and researching a ton. It basically came down to these, Bridgestone J38/J40 DPC, and the Adams CMB. As a 15 handicap I need forgiveness and these are probably one that would not be recommended to me. But I just loved the way these set up and the shafts. The head is smaller but not tiny. Thin top line, sole width appears to be on the narrower side but it is shaped in a way that would allow better players to work the ball. Offset seems to be very minimal. The special weighting in the long irons is like cheating, they are so easy to hit. I have hit some of the best long irons shots of my life.... And that’s after my first round with them, no range time! Seem to have a slightly longer heel to toe length and nice square toe. These are all things that sold me on them.

I have tried the Adams CMB and these blew the doors off them. Way more forgiveness and the feel at impact is better than everything I've tried. I was approaching every shot with a great deal of confidence, had a few mis hits but the results were very surprising. You could feel you didn't hit it properly, but only lost about 10 yds or missed it left or right by about the same margin.

I am definitely partial to these shafts though, the way they look with the satin heads is amazing. I think they have a lot to do with the results and feedback I was getting with these heads. Can't stop telling my buddies to just try hitting one...

I know these things can be tuff to find. Not sure if I can post links on here, I'm new so let me know if this isn't allowed.

I found this spot that sells them with KBS tours. Not sure of buying off there site, but they are on ebay (good feedback it seems) and it says they will knock off a $100 if you mention there ebay listing? kinda weird but who knows..

yourtourcollection is a legit site. Guys have been getting their CG16 P's and T's from them.

Thanks for your comparison to the CMB. I was curious as how they stacked up. As a 15 also (more driver) I could use more forgiveness. Cant wait to get home and try em out!

**on a side note, those 701 TGs sound pretty dang sweet as well**

all I can say as these are very special irons, the long irons are like cheating, these will go down as true icon irons, the cult following has already begun, if you can find them try them is all I can say.

Just bought these Z-tx 2 irons from the forum here and had a chance to hit them today. Wow is all I can say. The feeling is just butter! I was playing a combo 63/68 set which was probably too much club for my game. I average around 8-9 cap and just had trouble with the 68's on approach shots. These irons are solid now I just have to get used to the distance changes since 6-P are 1* stronger. The offset is a bit more than the mizzy's but you can still work the ball! Can't wait to game them Friday!

I spoke to Marc at yourtourcollection yesterday, he told me he got in 4 different sets of srixons from great players from the tour stock at the factory, 701t, ztx, ztx2, and very rare webbey 701. anyone looking should give him a shout, they dont last long. in additon he told me srixon is now disolving and falling under the brand name XXIO, he will be the United States distributor for their product tour and retail. I have played the 701t and the ztx, both like butter,, he showed me the milling on the new ones he got,, he thinks they were done by Epon, the milling is amazing

Ok couldnt wait anymore. Threw the SPB in the ztx 2s last night after getting them all blueprinted. In a word SOLD! I made them a tad heavier than normal with them going from d5 4i to d7/8 in the 58 and 64. Now it was about 40 and windy. Keeping that in mind, along with frozen range balls, I REALLY think I should buy a back up set. I could honestly see myself playing these for years. Everything youd want really, some offset but not alot (at least to my unskilled eye). Not an overly thick topline but you can see they have some substance to them. Plus the higher irons have the tungsten weights that really help get the balls airborn.

Where they really shined is A feel and B forgiveness. Havent played mizunos much but I dont know how you can make the srixons feel any better. Cold as it was, you could tell when you struck it sweet. I just had this grin and said "got it". No other way to describe it.

When I didnt hit it sweet, which I will admit was more often than not, I was suprised about how little distance I lost. You've been there. Youre on the range and you hit one fat and just say "glad that doesnt count". Well these were more like "I could live with that". I need to dial in the peenings more as I was trying to get after them. Peenings just want swung.

But ya, VERY excited and will probably grab a backup set to pair with my S400s. Was going to put them in my I 506s but I dont know. Ill give a few more ranges and it should be warmer next week but def a VERY HAPPY camper right now.. Pics will be in witb tomorrow

marc has got some more 701s in and maybe a set or two of ztx and ztx 2. He said he cannot keep them in stock. He also said, operations for clubs now for Srixon are officially shut down. They will be back under the brand name XXIO and he will be the U.S. dealer for their tour equipment and some of the hi end retail stuff. I know he has the ztx drivers and fairways as well as some z stars in the woods too, his prices are always good as well, last time someone mentioned his ztx2's they sold out that day as he only was asking 500 for the tour issue ones. The woods were the big surprise to me, he told me to try them instead of my "whiteys,", he calls them, his certainly won on classic looks, the black heads were nice, they do perform well and his heads being tour issue did not hook off the map. I think I paid 200 for the driver with a fubuki Alpha and 175 or so for my 3 wood, compared to what i paid for my "whiteys" he was right, it is a good investment. The milling on some of those irons is comparable to the putters he gets and he has been a putter expert for 20 years. check him out over at yourtourcollection, he loves the srixon stuff,

Does anyone happen to know the specs of the Z-TX 2's? I can't find the info anywhere. I'm particularly interested in loft, lie and hosel size.

You might try here, I know he had all the remaining tour sets they had before going back to Japan.
