When I first started buying lots of clubs, I got the Mizuno MP's as my first "nice" wedges.

Then went to Titleist Vokeys because I got some Titleist irons. Then tried Clevelands but ultimately went back to the MP's because I love their traditional look, butter soft wedge and the fact that they don't shred balls.

I am, however, tempted by the vintage x-tours MD's...but will try my best to stick with the MP's b/c I know I'll likely end up with them back in the bag anyways even if I switched.

I think all the new wedges that are out are great.

I would usually use my Vokeys, but have been playing around with the X-Tours and Satin Y Cutters and they are just as good.

I dont think i can pick a " best" anymore, it used to be Vokeys hands down, now they have some competition.

And the balls get ruined no matter which ones i use, just the nature of the beast in wedges these days.

The Taylor Made RAC TP BLACK wedges have been the best wedges I have ever owned. They spin well, have great feel, and don't shred the golf ball.

IMHO, they are the most underrated wedges on the market!

Thanks,

Bert-B

!!! i love my rac tp's, too, but every full wedge shot i take with these clubs will shred the golf ball. i especially love the added spin of these clubs on chips and pitches around the green. these are excellent clubs. :idhitit:

Taylor RAC Tour Y-cutters are simply the best wedges I have eve used. Solid, workable, donot shred balls and spin like they need on low checkers around the green. I also have a set of Cleveland 588 TC stamped wedges which are very good.

Based on a 15 ball test at a demo, the Cally MD groove Tours could put spin on a ball bearing, but in 15 shots the impact area on the face was white with the cover peelings from range rocks.

The ping black nickel tour wedges are great for anybody. Long, accurate, and soft on impact.

Agree 100%, love the Ping Tour wedges. Carry the 52,56 and 60.

Agree 100%, love the Ping Tour wedges. Carry the 52,56 and 60.

I also carry the Ping Tour Black Nickles in 50, 54, 58 Customized. Great wedges with great spin and playability. Versatile Set.

So many good wedges out there once could easily get confused about what to buy - demo days are important but there are not that many in the fall. Stores should carry demo wedges.

My other set is Miura - in 50, 54, and soon to come from Japan - a 58.12. The 50 and 54 are great for firmish conditions. A fine set.

I saw a Cleveland BeCu DSG grind yesterday - nice looking but too shiny for me - maybe it tarnishes - just too many nice wedges - must demo

I agree. (see picture) :idhitit: I'm playing Bridgestone J33 wedges right now, but I have a pair of Mizzie MP's in the wings. They're pretty much the best wedges I've ever owned or demoed.

3rd place: Ping TOURs, which are also fabulous.

How do feel about the Vokey 200 tour satin series and the Vokey spin Milled compared to the Mizzie MP's ?

And what about the more tear drop shaped Mizuno Mp-T wedges Black Nickel - don't you fancy them too :yess:

I kind of like a more tear drop shaped wedge as to a round face, like the Mp series. The new Mizzie MP_R series will be the succesor to your Mp Forged and will also feature a round face.

Don't know if I'm going on the 'round wagon' - I simply like tear drop shapes heads better, but you shall never say never :diablo:

I think all the major manufacturers have now figured out how to make a good wedge. I've enjoyed my MP-T's this season and will probably stick with them for next year - I had a set of black pearl CG-10's before that but they felt too squishy or something, hard to describe.

I am having a hard time sticking with one type of wedge... I have tried rac black, x-tour, spin milled, and have yet to try 588s, cg10s. I found the spin milleds not to have the feel I like. Seems the RAC are more crisp and the xtour more soft than the "harsher" vokeys.

How is the feel on the 588 RTG? I might pick one up, but how does the tiny bounce play in the 60(3*)!??

There are a ton of good wedges out there now. I prefer a raw finish wedge. The mp-t perform the best all around for me with tons of feel and versatility but the spin milled really is a nice wedge with soooo much spin.

I would like to try a dsg cleveland now that they are available in a rtg finish

May I ask WHY you like raw rusty finishes on your wedges ?

Now a days the grooves of most modern wedges are very sharp and provides plenty of spin. This removes the old argument of buying raw rusty wedges because they spin more than the standard wedges.

I consider getting the new 588 DSG wedges, but I don't like my wedges to rust and and I don't like shiny chrome finishes, amd the 588 DSG is not yet being made in satin chrome finish - so I'll have to wait for Cleveland to make a DSG in satin - OR maybe buy mysefl my first set of RTG rzax rusty wedges !

But don't know WHY and IF I would like my wedges to be rusty and worn to look at - so please explain why you like that particular look on a wedge :idhitit:

Obviously, given the variety of responses, there is no such thing as a 'best' wedge.

And I doubt the original poster meant his question to be taken seriously since he answered it himself.

So, in that spirirt, the best wedge on the market is the Ping Eye 2 BeCu.
