I actually find nail polish to be the most durable as well. (even did my number stamps in the sole, and they are holding up great)

I do however put a clearcoat type nailpolish on at the end to seal things up and make those paintfills nice and shiny.

As for removale of excess....make sure it's completely dry. Then I use nailpolish remover (acetone) and a q-tip. Dip the q-tip in the acetone, then squeeze out any excess, then rub back and forth lightly to remove excess paint fill.

Thanks. I'll have to try that next time. I've been using a paper towel and acetone.

Anyone know if you can use something to polish the chrome finish on a forged club?

Ok... So I'm an impatient person. I was going to work on my new Hogans over the winter but I couldn't wait. As some may know I recently purchased some
'88-'89 Hogan Edge Forged irons, 3-E. Here's what the original colour scheme looks like:

This isn't mine. Just a photo of one.

Mine needed a little scrubbing. I Cleaned them up, stripped the paint and voila!

This is my first real paint fill attempt. I did a practice run on one of my old Bounce Soles. Tell me what ya think.

The paint fill job looks good. You might have filled in a bit more on the sole number.
But... it just doesn't seem right putting those colors on a set of classic Hogans...
I would have stuck with the original color scheme and filled the "Forged" in black. But that's just me:)

Thanks, ApexGrind. I just did what I thought looked cool. If I get tired of it I can always put it back to original.
I did my Nike SV Tour Black wedge with nail vanish. Works very well

If your club has flat/oxide black finish, how do you remove the excess pain when it dried? Wouldn't it mess up the black finish?

I'm planning on redoing paintfill on my irons with flat black finish, I'm worried I might mess up the finish when removing the excess paint after it dried.

Joe, how didn't you have that problem when you were doing the Vokey wedges in your post?

Any comments? :)

My nike sv wedge has a black finish but its fine. I used nail varnish remover to remove any excess paint that I didn't want and hasn't effected the black finish whatsoever.

Running a butane tourch over the paint fill is a quick, easy way to get the old stuff out. works great, melt and wipe away.

T.J.K. Definitely more in focus with the new paintjob

But seriously, nice work -- understated and not garish!!

I know. I forgot to do a before picture, and just took that one before I scraped out the old paint. I only took one picture cause I was ready to get the paint out. It looked focused on my small camera screen :ok:

Thanks for the compliments.

Well, I just couldn't resist after seeing all the posts here. Besides, nothing to do until spring anyway. Today was the putters, woods, and hybrids.
