judging players by their bags

Very creative jslane, thanks for sharing.

Speaking of which....just to show how INFECTIOUS GolfWRX is....Hicksta and I were yapping about golf on PM and he suggested I try the new RTX-3 muscle back wedges. I did today at Roger Dunn. Contrasted that to the SM6 and the Cavity Back RTX-3 and I walked away with the MB RTX-3 in the Tour finish at 50* and 10* bounce.

Nice wedge for sure & thanks to Hicksta for the tip. See, if you don't do bags and converse like normal people, you miss out on these little things in life :)

Hook and Roll is the perfect name for you. You probably started with a name that included parts of your own, and realized you don't wan't to give that much about you away. Besides, when you play a minimalist set, you sometimes need to grab the extra distance, and how else do you do that than the famous, "hook and roll" technique.

You've golfed for three decades. You got so into it back in the late 1980's that you started to build your own clubs. Snake Eyes was the club head of choice for that task. The Snake Eyes irons were always a bit clunky, but the SW was a gem. And is still in the bag. The groves are gone, but it still spins your ProV1 just fine, and you tell folks that its the shaft that does the work anyway. Oh yes, the matcher putter still rolls the rock as good as anything with the name spider or a large grip...

The Ping G5 driver is as good as any club made today. Seriously! Well, at least it's not $400.00 worse now is it? And the Pro Launch Shaft has just never been duplicated. This club can hit a fade or a draw. Perfect choice when the next club in your minimalist set is a hybrid.

But he hybrid has got me scratching my chin. Why two of them? Especially since if you drop one of them you're down to 7 clubs! The half set. The true minimalist bag. I mean, sure, 9 clubs or less counts, but one less and your there. But dang, the truth is that on the 200 yard par 3 the yardage can go from 220 to 185 and we just need two clubs to cover that hole's possibilities.

Wilson C200 irons. These set up so much nicer that your old Ping Zing 2 irons. And they hit the ball so much nicer than your old Wilson Staff from the 1980s. But really, you're only carrying 3 of them, they're the perfect club for this set up.

You've been as low as a 1 HCP. But currently are a 6. You've realized long ago that more clubs don't help your game, but with a light bag you can walk where ever you freaking want to walk. Over the greens, around bunkers, shortcuts to the tee. You own these. You're always waiting for the others pushing their big bags and push carts. Who cares about score, you've beat this game already!

Callaway X2Hot Pro 3 Deep w/Aldila Tour Green 80

Mizuno JPX Fli-Hi 19 w/ Dynamic Gold s400

Mizuno JPX850 forged w/Dynamic Gold s300

Mizuno Mpr12 56 and 60 with DG Spinners

SGC Northwood center shaft

enjoys uttering the word "Ahina", but clearly doesn't realize Ping continued to make better and better "black matte" finished driver heads after the original Anser,

X2Hot Pro 3 Deep, while positioned in the bag as the "players 3 wood", really screams "security blanket" for days the low MOI of the Anser has turned it into an aerosol can off the tee,

JPX Fli-Hi must have been impulse purchased after late night reading of a "Fli-Hi" WRX thread (I'd even go so far as to say this might be the second time Jeff has owned the club having regrettably sold it the first time),

the 850's being the most contemporary sticks in the bag make them well looked after, probably religiously wiped down after each and every "Mizzy" "buttery soft" forged ball strike.

decent wedges, using puzzling shafts in them, probably would be playing another maker of wedge but because of the Mizuno theme party the R12 are stuck in the bag like two pinned chess pieces,

and putts with an obscure boutique putter very few even on this forum could identify... once again working towards his goal of being one of the Most Interesting Man candidates on WRX.

(all in good fun Jeff, you're one of my favorites reads, and since joining here some of your posts have made my ribs hurt ;) )

haha, The Anser was cheap!

Oddly enough i actually chose the X2Hot 3 deep more for how it performs off the deck than off the tee. Which is very odd considering the deep face, but i hit it very high with little spin off the ground. Off the tee i like my 915FD better

Great guess on the JPX Fli-Hi!!!! LOL.....not my second time i owned it but that's totally plausible. I actually bought it because it's a Mizuno. I really had no need for a hybrid...i just saw it on sale and couldn't resist

You're the guy at your club that every one asks for club advice when they are stumped. Probably once every couple of weeks you say something like "whiteboard" and people think you are talking about school or look at you like you're speaking spanish. You care a lot about clubs and building "cool" stuff....if you didn't you'd use a D+ instead of going through the trouble of installing an adapter on an older whiteboard flowerband

You play what performs for you and test everything before buying, but are also aware of appearances and want to have a nice looking bag too. Hence the 13 club Ping bag with the hoofer. You value the nice symmetry of it even though you are aware that every club in it might not necessarily be the "best" fit for you. It still fits you very well.

You have a Ping Hybrid in your closet even though you don't currently play it, you do sometimes

Your headcovers are knitted and have the little ball on top

All in all you play what works, but also take pride in having one of the cooler bags at your club

Very good ballstriker, probably one of the better fairway wood players you know. Probably change 1 club a year maybe 2....probably turn a full bag in 3-4 years. You could play smaller irons than the Ping Anser and probably have, you don't need the forgiveness you just think they look nice, and also were probably curious to try Ping's first forging and they just stuck. You've owned a set of blades and probably still have them in your closet. I am guessing mizuno's , maybe Mp32's that'd be my guess

You went to the Odyssey Tank because you missed too many 5 footers and you've gotten better since switching. I am guessing it's the most secure club in your bag right now, and if your bag got stolen it would be the one you didn't even think about changing

lol, I do answer all the questions for the guys at "the club", but have never had to belong to one... fit and sell 7 figures a year of golf equipment and live in Phoenix it's amazing what brand club "appears" in your bag and how nice and new looking the bag itself always is... you'd be shocked how much I've worked on tuning a hybrid at the Tour Dept. and still no bueno, everything else with them I know is perfect, and I mean perfect, I haven't played better golf in my life... 100% correct that the 4 wood always has a traditional Ping fuzzy top/long sock style headcover, great call! you're a fellow local, I'll take this one on...

Sun Devil plays the 910 because he knows it works so well, has probably tried the 13 and 15 but realizes the 910 was still their best yet... he will definitely demo the 917... could this be the year?

M2 HL, he has grown to like this club. somebody finally convinced him with a slightly more lofted 3 wood he'd actually hit it FURTHER, and they were right.

Loves the G25 hybrid, plays a high end Graphite Design shaft in it... he's proud his choice of hybrid is so good PXG basically wound up plagiarizing it for theirs.

Is this his first set of Callaway Apex... or his second? only he knows. but he enjoys everything the club gives him including the "players iron" appearance factor. good ball striking occurs with them but the Steel Fiber shafts and having them soft stepped indicate a desire to achieve that picturesque "Tour" ball flight... daily outcome of that unknown.

Starting to get the feeling some serious fitting has been done with this bag... which boutique shop in the Valley did he go to?

Cleveland wedges and proper gaping signify a reliance on the short game to continue maintaining the "cap"... a mid weight Nippon steel shaft shows a desire to someday master the low, checking, "one hop and stop" approach wedge game.

The second Ping club appears in the bag with the putter... the Zing. he likes it and rolls it well. he's always been a heel shaft putter fan. assume he's played with this particular one for a while.... unless recently impulse buying after watching old highlights of Curtis winning back to back US Opens on Golf Channel.

And lastly the ProV1. has played it seemingly forever. living in Scottsdale it's mandatory you play this ball. people just walk around town with a sleeve of them in their pocket. but he also loves their marketing campaign, standing on every first tee he hears Jim Nantz saying "hello friends" in his head... one of these days I'll convince him he'd be playing a better ball in a Bridgestone ;).

I am not the greatest literary genius as other posters but I will dabble.

You are a long ball hitter and laugh at the dust collecting on your 3 wood and hybrid since you chose the keep the oem shafts and feel no need to waste money on shafts you barely hit. your iron game is spot on and smooth like an artist of canvas hence your older cleveland wedges still have bite because your GIR is high or you love the familiarity of your cleveland wedges and the soft darts(lobs) you throw. and sing silent good nights with your putter.

If people seen my bag they would think I'm a snob. Really I'm just a bargain shopper who just got back into the game and took advantage of all the Nike equipment on sale hahaha

Not too sure about that. From my experience playing with random people, there are 3 types that are typically not that good and will make excuses the entire round. Those that play a full bag of Nike's, a full bag of Taylormade's, or a full bag of Cobra's...

Titleist TSR 4 - Autoflex SF 505XX

Burner Mini - Autoflex SF505XX

Cally Apex UW - Ventus TR RED 7x

Ping G430 3H - Ventus HY Blue 8x

Ping Blueprint S 4-PW Axiom 105x

Hi-Toe 3 52/MG3 TW 60 - S400TI

Odyssey Ai Milled Eleven DB w/Stability Tour

Hahaha I play a full bag of Nike's. Only because of the great deals I came across when getting back into the game. If I had the money and could hit a set of irons they would be Mizuno MP's. Im not that great but Im not the type to make excuses for having a bad day.

I see it like this. Golf is that perfect game, youll never be perfect at.

Im sure someone said that, I cant recall who.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
