2012 Iron Fitting at Pure Impact in Michigan

PI gets 2 big Thumbs up - Awesome.... (clubs ordered)
Went to Pure Impact in Michigan today.
About 1.5 hour drive from home but worth it........

Chris knows his stuff and has everything. He really really knows his stuff.

It was basically an iron fitting with a few extras.

Warmed up hitting my stock MP53 - hit it great as I have all year but pulling left a bit (again a swing flaw but I've been playing it).
I avg about 195 yard carry (trackman) with the MP53. Felt great with the stock S300 but Chris thought I could do better.

Hit the MP59 and AP2 712 with various shafts for an hour or so and with various lie angles.....

Winner was the AP2 710 with the TT Tour Concept Satin S Stiff. What a beautiful combo. I was carrying this 6 iron over 210 upwards of 215 on the trackman and straight as an arrow. The feel was fantastic. The MP59 actually felt even better but the lrons are a bit small.

I was hitting the ball really well today with the irons and actually broke 2 of his tips - a MP59 and AP2 head went flying into the net. Thank God it was just the tip....

He gave me a price on my custom irons and I will likely order them after xmas from Chris.

I never hit the tour concept before and don't see it on tt or titleist website but it felt fantastic - I guess it's similar to the S300 but a bit stouter, flighted and smoother if that makes sense.

We did some adjustments to my hybrid and 3 wood (Flatter) and I hit a few drivers as well but I was beat by then.....

He also determined the proper grind I need on my wedges after hitting a few outside....

He was great and his stock is awesome. He gave me a few swing tips to help my early release as well.

Highly Highly Recommended........................

He said the spin milled 4 had good grinds for me but I might bring in my VR Forged (I found a new set) and have him do something with them.
I'm not sure about my woods yet. In real conditions this year I killed my driver. I hooked a few and I know the shaft is weak but the feel is amazing and I might just stick with it - maybe have him adjust it.
After he adjusted my 910H I hit it well. But by the time I hit my 3 wood I was so tired and my swing sucked more than I sucked before I even got there!
I have to go back in the spring to figure the woods out.

I hit the SM with some black graphite shaft and boy it felt great. (Miyazaki wedge shaft) I don't know If I want to go graphite in my wedges but they worked.... Felt great.

How much was the fitting if you don't mind me asking? I live in mount pleasant so I'm curious.

I don't want to talk about pricing but let's just say I was happy and he was excellent.

KG,

Carrying 6 iron almost 215 and still staying in stiff? Sounds like you had a good time my man. The winner was 710 AP2 or the new 712?
dizz, I've gained almost 2 club lengths this year. Don't ask how but I was stupid long in 2011. Didn't help my scores much though.
The winner is the 712s with the MP59s a close second. The Shafts will be Tour Concept Satin. I just can't stand the feel of any shaft except for s300s. The Tour Concept are a bit stiffer and flighted.

I got the Miyazaki shaft in my xFT wedge, also from him. Awesome feel, and the flex is actually quite similar to my other steel wedges. I think they are supposed to play similar to S200's, which is the common wedge flex.
Feel is amazing I agree but I don't know if I'm going to go that route.... I was very very surprised by the feel again.

We can probably play as a fivesome this time of year -- it would be worth it to see a 215 yard 6-iron! This time of year, I'm lucky if I can get it out there 175 -- and if my last two rounds are any indication, it won't be flying anywhere near the intended target.

Miles of Golf is participating in the "Small Business Saturday" promotion that American Express is running this weekend, which gives you a $25 credit on your AMEX statement if you spend $25 at various local businesses. Plus, Miles is offering 10% back in gift card form on purchases made that day. So, with all those discounts, I might go pick up a belly putter to play around with, and if I don't like it, I can probably recover my investment if I turn around and sell it.

Difference is, Furyk was probably good at putting at some point before. There's simply too much buzz about these things, and I know a couple of people who have made the switch and swear by them, so I feel like I should at least give one a try if it could significantly improve my results on the greens.

Do it.
I've already rationalized it -- it's as good as done. :busted2:
Don't do it! Don't drink the Kool Aid! Didn't you see Furyk putt at the Presidents Cup after he ditched the belly. Made everything.
Difference is, Furyk was probably good at putting at some point before. There's simply too much buzz about these things, and I know a couple of people who have made the switch and swear by them, so I feel like I should at least give one a try if it could significantly improve my results on the greens.

ETA: Sorry for the hijack -- I thought I was in the Michigan thread when I started this tangent...
Not to hijack the hijack but very few of the best putters on tour are using a belly putter. Its a band aid IMO. Its gotten a ton of buzz solely from Webb Simpson and Keegan Bradley. Even the total putting stats on the PGA Tour are amassed with guys using the short putter.

How much was the fitting if you don't mind me asking? I live in mount pleasant so I'm curious.
Just google Pure Impact Michigan and it gives you their rates on the site.
yep rates are listed but it's worth every penny to get the entire fitting experience.
