Nice little score tonight, a bit dissapointed I could only by one KBS, however my regular bottle shop pulled out the big ABV guns with the two Avery's (yes they are both 16.9% plus lol) They will be doing a KBS event for members so I should have no problem getting at least one more KBS and hopefully a 4 pack.

Since you like high ABV, try the Avery Pumpkyn.... One of the best pumpkins out there!

Went to a 1st anniversary party for Hailstorm this morning. Picked up a few bottles of their limited release sour. Very delicious, not super sour. Plus the BA menu was impressive. Wish I could have stayed longer.

So far I this week I have polished off the Boulder 2012 killer penguin, that was pretty good for an $8 bomber already aged 3 years for me haha. I don't like my barley wines hoppy at all, so anything that has less hops is cool for me.

The 2013 Marin old dipsea bourbon barrel was good, awesome flavor but it tasted pretty thin in the mouth. I hate to get all beer nerd, but that's the only way I can describe it.

Picked up a new release from Nebraska, the runnin with the devil. It's their Barley wine aged in rum barrels, sounds awesome. Had a few rum barrel beers and I've loved every one.

Is that the new trend? Barrels from other spirits? I know wine barrels have been done for a long time, but I've only seen a couple tequila barrel beers(all were rad), so when are gonna start seeing miller lite aged in yager barrels haha
Gonna get into that runnin tonight(624 Sunday tee time is gonna suck) and probably go with the false summit on Sunday and sit on that black hole for a good bit.

So the Avery Tweak was just not my cup of tea err I should say coffee. Just way too much overkill on coffee and a hint of jalapeno spice. It became only 1 of 2 beers I have had in the last couple years that I did not even finish.

I have had. Few stouts aged in rum barrels and they were very good. They use rum barrels quite a bit down in Florida. I noticed this when I was down there in January. It's not very popular here in Michigan yet.

Coconut porter aged in sugar cane rum barrels aka Black Pearl at the Maui Brewing Co. Grand opening in February was amazing.

 

 

Also the Bikini Blonde with passion fruit was quite tasty.

Nice hopefully next year I will have some great stuff saved up including KBS that has been aged and I have a great rotation. This last year was all about trying different things to find what I really like the best. Next year will be about finding ways to stockpile my favorites

You should be able to pick up Innis & Gunn Rum Cask beer in your neck of the woods. Scottish ale aged in rum barrels. Fantastic stuff.

My favorite beer company. You should also try their Oil Man, which is their imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels.

I found it in a 22 oz bomber. I'm not sure if it's available in cans or on tap. I sure hope so! I found it in Asheville over the weekend at bruisin' ales. I'm in Naples now and hoping I can find a few more bombers to bring home with me.

Honestly hated it and didnt even finish the bottle. The combo of that much coffee plus the jalapeno hint I was getting just didn't do it for me at all. I won't say it's a bad beer but it just wasn't for me. Definitely won't be one I buy again. I was so bummed that I ended up drinking the uncle Jacobs but now wish I let that one age to mellow out a bit.
