Putter Grips

Hey guys... My putter grip is getting worn out and i want to get a new one. I was wondering which is the best putter grip?

So true. I know people who need a skinny grip (like Tiger), people who really like something huge (SuperStroke) and people like me who like something midsized (Scotty Winn midsize). Then you have the cord fans, the rubber fans, the leather fans and on and on we can go. Grips (like just about all golf equipment) is so based on feel and personal preference that it's impossible to say what is best, because there are wayyyy too many answers to that question.

Here is what I tell guys who ask that loaded question .... (usually its in a pm so the vets don't give them a hard time !!)

Go to Edwin Watts or any shop that has a ton of preowned flat sticks. Start just getting a feel for the grips without putting. That is how I figured out that I was destined to be a gripmaster stitchback fool. I felt one on a scotty circa something with a black one on it and then I just bought one for my own putter to try. Don't try to putt with the putters just pick them up and see how the feel, heck shut your eyes and don't even address the putter. Why do I like the gripmaster stitchbacks? They remind me of my cars steering wheel.

Great Advice, but then make sure you can sink grips with that grip on your putter.

Agreed !!! ... but at least it gets you past the "feel test" .... half of the premium grips I see come in prepackaged sleeves or its just doesn't have the same feel as on a shafted putter. Just gives an idea as a driver does with the eye test.

I mean what do I try? Ping Man, Stitchback, Iomic, Scotty Cord, Lamkin, Scotty/Ping/Golf Pride Pistol, Winn, Super Stroke, Skinny Super Stroke, Tiger Shark ...... it is as hard as finding the right putter !!!

Gripmaster is my current grip of choice... second is iomic.

The only problem with Gripmaster... you won't want a cheap rubber grip ever again! Iomics aren't cheap...

Most my putters have Pingman and midsize Iomics. They offer great feel and distance control for me. As others have said, the "right" putter grip is very subjective. However, if you don't have a firm opinion on which grip to use, you might do well trying one of these two. You can get a Pingman about anywhere and the Iomics are always in stock at regripit.com.

I really like Lamkin's EBL 3Gen grips. They have a great tacky feel and they are very firm. Again, try several and you will find something you like soon.

I just ordered a leather Best Grip (similar to a Grip Master) and it should be in soon... I was advised it won't be too comfy for a few rounds, but the basement carpet will be my canvas for a while. I'll update you upon use...

I also have a few Ekta leather putter grips I have yet to install. They seem like they would be a pretty nice grip... Does anyone know about them?

I really like the midsize iomic. Just the right amount of tackiness but still firm. Just my 2cents

Same here. I bought one of the Iomic "absolute" models in midsize recently, but the shape is different than the regular Iomics. I don't like it as much and will replace it with a Iomic midsize or Pingman. I just made another order on Ebay for several of each. Love these two grips. Iomics are twice the price of the Pingman though, not sure they are worth the price. I have Pingman grips on about half my putters. For $7-8, you just can't beat it.

Just put this grip on my Cleveland Classic 1 putter a few weeks ago and really like it as well. I got the red one (paddle style).

I have gamed the PINGMAN with a few extra wraps for the last two seasons, before that IOMIC mid.

Now this off seaosn, I put on the SuperStroke Ultra Slim... For some reason, I think Ilm going to really like it... I;m glad i put it on over the off seaosn though,, let me get used to to it... It's almost like it;s upside down.. I think you can buy 'em on GS now (last years model) for like $8

After 4 decades of golf ... I stumbled across the Iomic midsize. Seriously ... I have never felt a putter gtrip that ... perfect. Period. Perfect.

+1 I used my 3300 up until about a year ago. There's something about that grip. It just fits perfectly.

Though now I use a Pingman on just about all my putters.

The New Iomic's are awesome! I also really like the Gripmaster Kangaroo leather grips.
