Best carry bag...

just looking for a new carry bag, and was wondering what the consensus was on what's the best...

looking for lightweight, and good club management...

a bit of storage is nice as well...

i currently have an Ogio Edge, but am not sure i like the Schling anymore... it kind of digs into my shoulders now...

The Schling is only available on the Flight and the Vision. That said, I have the Vision and like it a lot. The Schling REALLY words for me, and while the bag is on the heavier side it feels light due to the even loading (an extra pound don't bother me too much--if it did, I'd go run a mile before hitting the course). I also like the Woode system mucho for club management. Now, while the Hoofer Extreme left a lot to be desired, I think you'll find the consensus among golfers to be pro-Hoofer. It looks like the Vantage dropped a lot of the negatives found in the Extreme (stand strap, 8-way divider, construction), so could make Ping the flag-carrier once again for carry bags.

I bought the Sunmountain 3.5

 

It's at the top of the light weight bags and comes with a good amount of storage pockets. Double sling for very comfortable hoofin'.

 

This bag uses substantial mesh as trim - so I'm expecting this one to get a bit tattered and not last as long as the heavier bags.

 

I'm very happy with it thogh.

I had purchased the GolfWRX Ping Hoofer Extreme bag as soon as it was available but was using my Tourstage because it was older, and I figured I'd use it "up" first before going to a new bag. Well, the strap just recently ripped from the body of that bag so I figured I'd put the GolfWRX one into play. Right away, I noticed that although this bag doesn't have the usual amount of slots that I'm used to, but the best difference is that this bag is so light. I'm amazed how light it is compared to my Tourstage Bag and I think it looks pretty nice at the same time. :)

While I am a Ping fanatic, i am not a big fan of the Hoofer Extreme. The strap system doesn't seem easy to use to me. I have a Titleist x 67 and love it. Plenty of pockets and easy to handle.

I totally echo the Titleist x67 - light with six dividers, ample pockets and rooms for miscellaneous items. Only complaint I have is that the clubs get stuck at the bottom so it's sometimes hard to put your clubs in after hitting a shot. They often get stuck.

Something that is light. I am currently useing a Ping Hoofer Light from 8 or so years go, in white/black I love the way it looks and the weight it feels.

I have yet to find a Carry Bag that I like. I have a Callaway 3.8 Ultra Light and have a love/hate relationship with it. I love it b/c it's so light and has lots of pockets, but hate it b/c it has a 8" oval opening and 6/way divider. So unless you play Driver, 3w, 2-PW, 2 Wedges, and a blade putter, it's not going to fit in there.

 

Without seeing it in person, the only cary bag that has caught my attention is the new Pro Combo Bag with the 14 Dividers, the only drawback is it could have used an external putter port.

 

But Instead of purchasing a new carry bag, I would rather invest in a Sun Mountain Speed Cart and use my cart bag.

I have always had Ping bags and I would be hard pressed to find anything that I liked better. I had the k56 for a while and I loved it because it was so light. I just got the new Hoofer Extreme with the 4way top. This bag is amazing!! Every pocket is exactly where i would expect it to be and it is almost as light as my k56

How much stuff can you pack in the pockets? I like light weight bags, but, when needed, I like the ability to pack a fully rain suit, hat, etc in the pockets.

The Titlest bags mentioned so far are all re-brands of the Sun Mountain 3.5 bag, all of which are very good. But has anyone tried the new Sun Mountain Mini???

I saw it today at Corde Valle. It is incredibly light and small and is probably more suited for a summer bag than winter bag. The only concern I have is the 7" 4-way top. Seems that you would have a hard time fitting in 14 clubs in this thing.

 

I would be interested if anyone as seen/used this bag as I may put it on my Christmas list.

Sun Mountain 3.5. Hands down the best bag I have ever owned. Plenty of room for the essentials and really durable. I have 100+ rounds of walking (plus range time) on the bag and it is still in great shape.

How is the strap on the bag? On the comparable Titleist bag, it doesn't seem to offer much in the way of padding. Thanks.

i followed the herd and used hoofers for my high school career, and now in college too. but when i don't play team stuff, i use my Ping Moon bag. make the conversion. it's amazing, you feel like you're not even carrying a bag. as for storage, what do you need besides some balls, tees and a place to put your wallet? they're cheap too, buy one and see how it goes, you'll be a believer.

I like my Hoofer Extreme, but I hate the 8 way top. I am probably going to try to find a HE after the first of the year with the 4 way top if there are any out there still. I've seen a few floating around. As we creep toward January, the bag market should start to come down in price.

 

I would go with the Vantage, but I don't want to pick up an extra 2 pounds in the process.

 

I have always been intrigued by the OGIO line, but my ego won't allow me to carry a bag that doesn't match my irons. Stupid huh?
