iPhone Case/Divot Repair Tool All in One

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I love to browse KickStarter to see what types of projects people are starting, just for fun. I searched 'golf' in the search bar, not expecting anything, and was surprised to find this project called "THE MARK." Please don't think I'm the creator of this looking for promotion; I'm just a WRXer who happened to find this and thought you guys might be interested in it. I know I am haha.

I would totally buy something like that, even though I don't keep my phone in my pocket when I play. It just looks like a pretty cool case for anyone that plays golf.

Not too bad. Not enough people carry ball mark repair tools with them. A lot of people have iPhones, now there is no excuse for not fixing a ball mark!

Just what we need...more phones on the golf course. Mac

As long as they are on silent, I don't see why people can't have them out there. Who knows what could happen. A guy was found dead in the middle of the fairway at Chipanee CC in Connecticut after collapsing and the group behind him found him dead at arrival.

There was a time not all that long ago that cell phones didn't exist and the world survived ...

Also a lot of people use their phone as their GPS device, its a clever design.

And yes the world survived without cell phones, but also cars and electricity and running water.. whats your point?

Just poking around on there, the LumoBack has some interesting possibilities as a training tool for swing posture.

I don't know about you guys but it seems to me that my divot tool gets dirty and sand on it. Not something I'm in favor of mixing with my phone.
And who wants to pull their phone out every time your on the green? And if your reply is keep the tool in my pocket then why do I need the phone case? If you say storage than what's wrong with my golf bag. I also don't recall ever being away from home and thinking "man if only I had my divot repair tool".
THE MARK = USELESS in my opinion.

As others have said, I don't take my phone up to the green when I'm playing. It's either in the cup holder (GPS function) or in my bag if I'm not using the GPS.

Also another potential downside, I see potential trouble at the TSA airport screening line if you try and take that through security.

I don't even get how any parent can leave their phone in the car during a 4-5 hour round of golf. I would not want to find out 3 hours later one of my kids got hurt an is in surgery . Golfers with no kids then I totally understand.

As far as the case goes.. Great idea but I don't need my phone taking on mudd

Did it all the time in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Then again, my wife was always with our children when I was away.

It's amazing the things iPhone users will invent so they can keep their iPhones (electronic Crack) in their hands. What next? A fishing pole that folds out from the case called iFish? Or a fold out can opener called iDrink? Or how about a spatula that folds out from the phone called iGrill? :taunt:

Pragmatically speaking while I love innovation, even if you use your phone as a golf GPS, attaching something dirty like a divot tool to your phone case that forces them to share the same pocket will only contaminant with dirt and grit. This is not good for electronics and touch screens.

Too many negatives, dirty divot tool will cause dirt to get all up in the case and scratch phone, awkward to pull out phone all the time, now you have to clean your divot tool. Plus, whenever I carry a divot tool in my pocket I hit fewer greens, it's just bad luck for me. A golf tee works just as well.

It is a cool looking case for golf aficionados but impractical for real world use. If I saw this in the store and needed a case I would probably fall for it but I would not use it on the course.

Also not sure why they are allowing $50,000 for mold and case production. Their tooling cost of $6,000 is about right for a tool of this complexity. You can get smaller production runs and maintain a reasonable price for each case.

I stopped carrying divot tools years ago when I realized golf tees work just the same. One of the members of my club actually calls it "old school" and "classy." But its all about carrying less stuff in my pockets...which means the phone stays in the golf bag.

This I like! but I already do this with my iPhone and iPad. I have been practicing setting up with more tilt. I use an app called Clinometer. I use an elastic band to strap the iPhone to my side and Clinometer allows using another iDevice as a the display for the measurement device. As I bend the iPhone measures the angle and I read it off the iPad.

Forgot to mention the app is great for measuring loft and lie angles.

Awesome, now the guy who's always on his phone during the round can fix his divots and delay pace of play all at the same time!
[/quote]LOL funny!

I constantly fix ball marks.....

I love my Iphone....

This still makes no sense to me....

Black-Blue-Downrightside.jpg

I don't want anything larger in my pocket while playing than my normal dual purpose tool.... similar to these...

Agreed! But to people that are addicted to their electronic crack, the idivot tool case helps satisfy that need. As I understand it the next version of the product has a fold out brush for cleaning your clubs and a new app that takes a picture of your ball to tell you if it needs to be cleaned! :cheesy:
