JP landed from Frankfurt and his clubs did not. Ok - these sorts of things can happen to regular folks but you know JP took it in stride. I dont think they did it intentionally. Right? So I drove to the Poconos to play this course called Jack Frost National. JP was a little bit shagged but motivated. Jack Pearsall assumed the course had much to do with a wonderful song from the early Grateful Dead cannon. I became somewhat agitated when informed that the course was named after some pointless other relic.

 

JP was presented with Nike Slingshot irons and some bizzare looking squarish Nike driver. I wondered what the hell is going on in Seattle? Who designs such things? Can Jack Pearsall purchase whatever drugs they must be ingesting at Nike Design Center campus? (JP would pay - he's no skin flint!)

 

I opted for a cart since the course discourages walkers.

The irons felt sort of like those pokers one uses for the fireplace. Tactilly dead and nearly impossible to turn over though a cut could be managed. The bounces are huge and I found absolutely no advantage to them on the dry Pennsylvania turf. The driver was even weirder. It has an overt draw bias yet the club is difficult for JP to turn over. Jack just never felt like himself with the tools and played loosely. The pinpoint accuracy you'd expect was not there.

 

Jack Pearsall does not understand where the advantage or even the benefit is to be found in such clubs and asks if users of these types of hardware can help Jack to understand. JP is a bit tired right now and hopes in the morning an answer might be forthcoming as there is no certainty JP's golf bag will arrive for his next round. He misses then turribly....

It is truly a sad day when a guy drives to the Poconos to play a golf course. It is even sadder when you find yourself playing GI irons. I can only imagine the despair you felt.

I have heard though, the truly great players, (JP included) can play with anything. Is this not true?

I am disappointed in JP. One, JP should have known to ship his clubs ahead with FedEx. Two, the JP I know would have had a Plan B formulated. JP would have traveled with TWO sets of clubs so if one was lost, he had his backups at hand! JP has fallen a rung in status...

Agreed. Your posts are like a car accident... but I have to stop and look... and then I get irritated... and then I ask myself: "Who the hell is JP anyway? And what the hell does he know about golf (or writing, for that matter)? He can't even manage to stay connected to his clubs in a small town airport (Lehigh Valley 'International').

And why is JP even in the Poconos? Maybe he's practicing those bulbous Driver shots out of the fairway bunkers? Maybe I could drive up to Jack Frost tomorrow to meet The Legend, and get in on that bunker action. There's probably a lot I could learn carrying The Legend's bag, but I'd be afraid that I might have to run him over with a golf cart if he started talking all 3rd person-like to me.

Now I have a headache. And eye strain. This almost sounds like that irritating cable advertisement.... "When you read JP, bad things happen... Don't read JP"....

Stage1350 is disappointed that JP broke the third person narritive a few times in this story. This site expects better of you, sir!

Obviously JP did not pull out the "do you know who I am?" card. Had JP used it, the club pro would have gladly given up his persona bag of forged irons and driver with an upgraded shaft. Nobody puts [s]Baby[/s] JP in the corner!

This latest post has me troubled in 3 areas:

First, it seemed JP forgot who he is. He is Jack Pearsall, the Man, the Legend. The Man, us mere mortals can only hope would nod our way in a chance meeting. What is with the "I" and "we" references? Wasn't to sure I was still reading the same post....

Secondly, how dare the pro not know whose presence he was in. Oh, sure it would be hard to keep up on everything on the internet and tv. Do you think any of the Kardashian bi*ches would put up with such treatment? Let alone Kanye....and the dos equis man, don't get me started! He's a hack!

Finally, JP can break par with a sledgehammer, 2 shovels and a whisk broom! Who is this man and where is the real Jack Pearsall? The Secret Service have some explaining to do....

Does JP have an aversion to us mere mortals who do use iron pokers as clubs? If not, and dare I ask, would he be willing to share a round of golf when he returns home? I am certain JP is rarely is in search of a "game" but should that day happen it would certainly be a "bucket list" item for me.

The biggest faux pas is the reference to the Dead song. It is Jack Straw NOT Jack Frost. JP obviously doesn't know what he is talking about.

LOL at attacks and yet Jack is a little saddened too. JP steps off a nine plus hour flight, immediately drives to the Poconos from Newark (after arguing for two hours with a woman who could care less about his lost golf club bag.) and promptly plays 18 holes with fire poker irons in 85* weather and yes - Jack sought answers here while in the utter last gasp of personal energy. And so a Jack Pearsall sits here now and wonders how can a man who is just a man, just like Hogan was just a man, witness statements that are only principally about elevating the posters at the expense of this wandering golf lover. Is this the legacy Jack Pearsall's sharing has wrought? But in a sense, JP should have risen from his exhaustion to satiate those who seek perfection in another yet hold themselves to standards that are if nothing else, questionable or hidden and unknown.

Jack Pearsall writes as he speaks and if that is not to your particular liking, then that really is ok. But it all amuses JP only in the images that are reflected back at him by those who show their posted barbs to be trite, humorless and even a bit mean spirited. (gassing people snarky comments? really it has come to this?)
Perhaps this is the fate of one who dares to step out of the box, to allow himself to be called strange, weird and even a fool. He set himself up for it it would seem given how people treat others these days. Jack doesn't entirely understand that aspect of the discourse and - truth be told - distances himself from minds built on such foundations.

And yet not a single one of you bothered to answer the question He asked.

This mirror Mr. P is regarding on GolfWRX causes him to pause and now say ado. It has reflected back onto himself as well and not always shown what he'd have liked to have seen. For that JP is sorry.

Jack Pearsall, back on the road with the belief that it is better to be out of the box than locked in one like so many.
