When in doubt, Scotty just add's an ugly loud headcover and marks it "limited" to market a brutal putter. I have seen the video on his website of how he prototype'd this, and I think it was a decent attempt to try to salvage weight. That said, I'm not sure how a putter shaft going into aluminum "knuckle", into putter shaft, into the head is going to feel. He did mention he could add different materials to the shaft portion under the knuckle to change the feel. Maybe he'll claim that idea as innovative too....

625 is a steal. Especially when you WON'T be able to get one for 625. You'll have to pay double and maybe tripple that 625. It is what it is. I bought the Del Mar Buttonback, sold the grip and headcover, and I've gamed it since. After selling the cover and grip I have about 250 tied up in my Buttonback. Work the system. Oh yeah, and if you're not on the list for one of these now, you won't be getting one without paying eBay prices

I am by no means a scotty hater, but i really find this putter silly. I think its cool to own a limited edition piece, but there really isn't anything special about this putter. They really didn't put much effort into this. They just grabbed some "limited edition" paint fill and threw it on a golo. Its even the same exact finish! I do like a few of his limited releases, but this one is just plain silly.

And then again its genius. They now have such a cult following that they can make nominal changes to preexisting models and sell it for double without needing to design/make a new or discontinued model.

This will probably be a production model next year if they follow the same trend as last year. If I bought the Jet Setter H-2011 last year for $625 I would have been furious seeing it come out in a production model for $350 four months later. If think it would be nice if they kept the limited releases as something not readily available like the Rors putter or the Buttonback, both of which I own/have owned.

There are far worse habits or interests than Scotty Cameron putters. I think he meant that Scotty fans are immediately hooked on something new most of the time, regardless of the price, design, etc. Scotty Cameron is a smart marketer in that he knows what he can and can't get his fans to buy. The debates about originality etc are tough, because there is only so much you can do with a putter so at some point there are going to be similarities in design. I think Scotty gets in trouble when he claims an idea as original when it's a "play" or "spin" on an already completed design by someone else. Regardless of our thoughts, I'm sure the 750 will sell and Scotty's brand will make a cool six figure profit. It's easy to criticize him, however, it's also easy to be jealous or envious of his success too.

Well I appreciate your reply, and I was going to discuss this directly with him, but to make the point again you aren't losing a dollar on these. You spend 6 and change to get a putter you can play a few months and then sell for 8. You MAKE MONEY off Cameron products. What the heck is cultish about that?
A few people, like my cousin, got the white stand bag when it was released a few months ago. He sold it for 850 on ebay after deciding he didn't want it. That's about 400 in PROFIT. Again, what is cultish about that?
For almost all Cameron equipment depreciation is rare. What other OEM has that kind of built in economy around it. Not to mention Cameron products are top shelf. In a lot of people's opinion, including mine, the best you can get.
Buying a Cameron putter is one of the smartest investments a person can make.

They look great I love the look of Cameron's line. Scotty's putters always look like fine jewelry, great finishes with quality grips and clean lines. My only beef with the Cameron line as of late is the feel hasn't been as good as his putters in the 90's. If he captures that with this line I might have to look at adding one of these to my putter collection. I'm not sure it could replace my Tropical Bardados but it would nice on the putter rack.

I used to be in a Corvette club and there were two kinds of 'vette owners: "waxers" and "racers". I buy clubs to hack at golf balls, not to admire them. Cameron collectors must fall into the "waxer" or poser category...

Not around here....
Oh, sure the waxers will put it to the floor in as straight line. But try and get them to carve OR drift the car through corners at speed and they end up wayyy back in the mirrors.

You're right, it is kind of strange that Cameron under prices these as they sell out immediately, and when on the bay they go much higher. I think if he went up to $800 there would be no difference in the level of excitement.

So to keep our metaphors consistent, if you could buy a Corvette for 8oK, then could sell it for 14oK, that would deserve scorn, countless emotioncons, and ROFLMAO to show how dumb you are to everyone else.
Well here's a thought. To a lot of people, $650 is nominal. Doesn't mean that's true for everyone, but it is for people who have done well in life and now have disposable income they want to allocate toward something they love. In my life there have certainly been times when $650 would have been a big deal and I can totally appreciate that. During those times I never went around publically critiquing what people who had money were doing. I never thought about it that way and to be honest it says a lot more about the financial qualifications of the person making the statement than those spending THEIR money.
It's also beyond hilarious that anyone in their right mind would come to a website dedicated to the most exotic, rare, tour equipment in the world and then balk at a price tag for a limited piece. It's like handing out speeding tickets at the Indy 500.

I'm playing a Golo S right now, that I got a great deal on, and I don't think I'd buy this one, but only because I don't care for the shaft design. I really like that head with a center shaft.

Onto pricing. Aren't some of the guys here spending that much on multiple clubs in their bag? $400 driver with a $400 shaft? $900 irons with another $500-$600 in shafts? In the grand scheme of things, is that really that expensive? (Especially given that in decent shape after being gamed for a year, these will likely still sell for above $400)

Frrom the early reports this putter will be about 350 cheaper than the R1 limited driver TM will be releasing. The only difference is that these will hold value or appreciate while the R1 limited will be worth about 99 dollars two years from now.

I think this putter looks pretty cool. I rolled a Tour "Knucklehead" and loved the way it set up and rolled the ball. Since the only other option of getting a "Knucklehead" GoLo is $2500 plus, this putter is a no brainer for me if I can get my hands on one.

I'm sure I'm going to offend people but..........Scotty's do nothing for me anymore. This putter looks bigger in the front, doesn't look good to my eye, nasty color scheme...In fact for the last couple of years I haven't liked the looks of anything he's produced. Just my opinion.

Why anyone would be offended by your comments is beyond me, nothing wrong with having an opinion. I actually really like the GoLo head shape just not with that neck, grip, shaft, alignment aid or paint...Lol.

I am by no means a scotty hater, but i really find this putter silly. I think its cool to own a limited edition piece, but there really isn't anything special about this putter. They really didn't put much effort into this. They just grabbed some "limited edition" paint fill and threw it on a golo. Its even the same exact finish!
Yep, No one is in the position to tell anyone else how to spend their income. Rediculous to say the lest. Much like the Vette people mentioned earler (almost all marques have those that play and those that show), I'm a fan of function over form. I can't see spending that much for a putter, but I'm not going to say others shouldn't.

I can understand the appeal of SC putters. I can understand how people buy based on name and reputation. Not for us to say it's dumb, stupid, etc... on how others decide to spend their $$.

Keeping the prices "low" is the way to increase demand, knowing they'll sell for much more (hopefully) in the future.

Smart, especially on something (just a swag here for conversation) that probably costs close to $25-$40 in raw materials each, $10K-$25K for tooling, labor and overhead being the most expensive, probably looking at around 300% markup all told being $650 ea, with 750 units.

There are fans, and then there are .. FANS. I equate them to Apple fans. They just gotta have "the new hotness".
