Do you wear a watch?

I always wear a watch and the wedding ring.

 

Honestly, if a watch and ring screw up my swing/mental ability, I need a new hobby. They're the last things I'm thinking about on the course.

I don't wear my normal watch - but I wear a rubber Nike Oregon. I really don't look at it much - every now and then business necessitates knowing the time for a call, etc. while on course. No wedding ring - hurts my finger

I don't wear a watch, because I wear a watch the rest of the time in order to know what time it is. I do not want to know what time it is on the course . I can already tell roughly whetehr play is slow or not. I don't need a reminder on my wrist.

 

I will be finding out in a couple of months if I wear a wedding ring or not while I play.

I don't wear any of my watches while golfing. In my opinion, it places unnecessary stress on the movement (particularly the winding mechanism). Omega claims their watches are shock-resistant to 5000 G's and, while I don't have a precise figure, I'd venture to say that Rolex would yeild similar resistance (the 3135's KIF shock-resistance is nearly identical to the Incabloc system found in the Omega calibres) but I'd rather not take the risk.

Rolex Sea-Dweller or one of my Seikos. The safest place for it is on my wrist, not in my golf bag or car.

 

Just don't wear it with a glove that has that stupid snap. Scratch city.

I wear the Tag golf watch, and really enjoy it. It's extremely comfortable in hot temperatures, can't tell it's there during my swing (doesn't slide around but isn't too tight), and looks nice, too.

 

 

I could wear this watch.. winding stem away from the wrist.... mine all are big and heavy the winding stems dig into my wrist on shots where I have it cupped... I just get those cheapo Timex clip on golf bag watches when they stop working I buy a new one... I will have to start looking for a lighter watch with the left winding stem... might work... for the golf course.

Completely right- until a couple of years ago, I would wear my automatic Omega on the course but noticed that after some rounds it was no longer keeping accurate time. Interestingly, it would settle back down after the round but because of this I no longer wear it on the course and instead bought a Swiss Army watch with a canvas/cloth band specifically for the golf course.

Hi, I have a friend in the business of jewellery and watches and he strongly recommended me never to wear a mechanical watch while playing golf. The internal mechanism suffers the acceleration and the vibrations coming from the swing and impact, ruining it in a very bad way.

I have solved the issue alternating some Swatch Skin (the extra-plat model) and the Tag Heuer Golf model. This one is also very good on the beach...

I wear my new turn-o-graph rolex my sweet wife got me for my birthday/anniversary. HOWEVER....

a watch junkie friend of mine said the impact is a lot for watches and he said only the tag link i believe was made for wearing while playing golf. I love wearing the watch so i will continue and i couldn't find anything on the rolex site about it, but when i think about it, that left arm has a lot more "jolt" to it then my left arm does when i play tennis (right handed, one handed backhand) so my concern is damage to the watch.

So not worried about the player as much as the watch impact...

Never used to when I played, but now I wear a watch constantly and it hasn't bothered me like I thought it would. I think the fit and weight of your watch is key though. My Rolex and Omega are heavy and fit a little loose and that drives me wild when I play. I have also read about the accel/decel effect on a mechanical movement, so I will never wear my Submariner on the course. I have a Ball watch that I wear to work everyday and I wear that to golf. It is rated against 5G's of shock, so the golf swing should not effect it one bit. They are great watches with gas markers in them for subtle glow in the dark experience. Worth a look fellas........

Did you ever notice that whenever Tiger hoists the trophy after winning a tournament, he always has a Tag Heuer on his wrist, but during the tournament, he is sans watch? BTW, I always wear my Tag Heuer Link while golfing, but for some reason, cannot play with my wallet, keys, watch or anything in my pocket other than a ball, divot tool and two tees (long and short).

BIG watch nut here. I have always worn one while playing and it's never bothered me one bit. And I typically play with my Panerai...and that is HUGE. But again, it does not effect me one bit.

It's a marketing thing, might even be written into his Tag contract that he has to wear it after a win when he's on camera. :)

Funny....I posted my watch here in Summer 2006 and the consensus thought it was a "chick watch." :man_in_love:

 

I get more compliments on it than my gold Cartier (see below).....by a wide margin.

I have also spoke to a jewler regarding wearing a "mechanical" watch while playing golf and he also suggested to take it off during the round. I wear only a Q Ray bracelet, which in my honest opinion doesn't do anything but leave a tan line on my wrist.

I keep my Omega Seamaster on during my round. I just like to have it on. Ever since my brother left his Tiger Woods Tag in a golf cart, I've been apprehensive about taking my watch off on the golf course. I had to swap out the metal bracelet for a leather band, though. On the bracelet, it was just too heavy.

only wear a livestron or a trion z. watches slide up and down when they are on comfortably and thats annoying, but if i tighten it its a pain in the a** and rubs. i think most pros only wear watches because they are sponored... immelman, donald, mickelson, etc.

The only time I ever wear a watch is when racing sailboats. Other than that I don't know when the last time was that I even owned one. Also happily married for 29 years and have never owned a wedding band or any other kind of jewelry for that matter. I did buy a school ring but never wore it. I own a cellphone but it stays in the vehicle for my use.

Can't believe that nobody has mentioned distraction caused when sun reflects off face and creates shiny mark near ball which then moves when you start putter back! Tried altering address postion but decided removing watch was better option!
