I need ideas for TeI3 Santa Fe Restoration...

Hey Guys or Gals, I need some ideas on how to restore a Scotty Cameron Santa Fe TeI3. Recently I bought a used one from a friend and I am debating whether or not I should get the original finish, or get something alittle less orthodox. What would really help me out, is if you can find different finishes or designs (photos) that I can check out, cause I have had a cameron for the past 5 years, not the same one, but I am loyal to the name. Since the only Cameron I have now is this TeI3 I want to make it special, and make it mine...

Any input with or without pictures is appreciated.

If you don't care about resale or a coa, I have always thought a black pearl type finish would look good on a TEI3 maybe with a gold plated face.

WOW!! I just posted this new topic no more than a few hours ago, and I already got some pretty useful input from you guys. Thanks a ton, keep the pics and comments coming! Now that Nickel plated Tei3, does that still have a copper face? I mean I have never really seen a TeI3 putter brand new haha But the one picture looks like it has a rainbow type glare to it!

 

Any you guys know where I can get these type of things done to my putter since I am trying not to go through cameron and spend an arm and a leg even though thats what I should do. If there are any alternates worth looking into, you guys are the ones that can help me out.

I sanded it, coked it, then heated it and dipped it in oil.

 

There is a post on here somewhere about the details of how to do that. It was pretty easy and cheap.

I was thinking about doing that, but doesn't the rubber that surrounds the copper insert get stained? I bought a pretty beat up Newport 2 TEi3 and was unsure about that. I coked it down to raw....now what?

Restore it to original. When the day comes to sell it, you will be ahead.

it looks loke the teI3 was renamed studio stainless steel with gss insert!!! LOL. all kidding aside, what the difference between the tei3 and N.P. studio stainless? is it materials? different insert? i have never seen a new teI3 thats why i said it looks like the studio line.

Here is a 3x oil can-- matte on the top, satin face, gloss sole.

No. 3X means it has three different sheens to it - matte on top, satin on face, and gloss on bottom.

 

I'd recommend BOS's oil patina. I got rid of mine and regretted so I just sent another one to them. As you can see if the pics above, it might be the most beautiful putter I've ever seen.

how did you guys do the dots on the back? whats the best material for the job?

All work done by me at home. Cost<$30. The elastomer dots were cleaned up after photos.

you didnt replace the dots? mines getting powdercoated this week...then ill be putting it back together

Nope. Left it all together. Masked off the insert and refinished it. Elastomer wasnt hurt at all.

I love the old school original tei3's. My favorite scotty by far.

I said it on this thread back in 2008 and i still will. BOS Oil Patina is drop dead gorgeous on a TeI3 and is IMO the most beautiful finish in golf.
