:D

Went to B'stone's website thinking they might have a "WITB" section for their tour players.

They still have Snedecker listed as a Nationwide player, along with Kuchar.

Who is at the wheel for Bridgestone anyway?? It's like they are trying as hard as they can NOT to put in an effort! :drinks: :drinks:

Just wondering, do any of the pro's use the 460 j33r or is it just the 420?

Rich

Appleby uses the J33P. Freddy uses the 420 I believe, although his clubs are so custom it's hard to say if they are even remotely similar to retail anyway. I'm sure the same could be said of Appleby's sticks.

I think that's it for staffers using the B'stone driver. It is a good strategy they have used with these ball, hat, and bag deals. Only club 'hos take notice of the actual clubs in the bag. :drinks:

Thank you Mr Divots, It is very true that most people notice what the bag is then what is in it

well most of the sponsership deals are for bag, hat and balls. some of the pros are just tough to get to switch. it took them forever to get freddie to try some b-stone irons. just give them time and im sure more and more of their staffers will start using an all b-stone bag

Freddie actually plays Miura irons that are stamped Bridgestone. From what my rep said is that they are slowly getting guys to play the sticks. I am sure its hard too when you dont have the dollars Titleist/Taylor/Callaway have to throw at the players for playing there stuff.

  • 4 weeks later...

Bridgestone is working on a prototype driver however. I think it may be released on tour later this year.

Does Couples still use a 510tp ??

I checked Getty, and Freddie was using the 510TP during the PGA at Medinah. At the Skins Game he was using a J33 driver, as well as at the FBR Open:

The shape looks nothing different to the R510 he was using. It looks to me a Bridgestone stamped 510. Especially the second pic, the headshape looks identical.

newbie but big bridgestone fan.... gotta remember they are a huge japanese market company and have to revamp their target market here in the states... just try and find a tour stage iron here , cant do it if you do its a japanese import....they are catching Freddie at the twilight of his career and hoping Appleby can win somewhere other than in Hawaii... they make solid equipment..check out Freddie's prototype irons on the WITB tour thread....

I spoke with my Bridgestone rep briefly today about new driver plans, he said "look for something later this year, probably July." He emphasized the word probably and that's all he gave me on the topic. FWIW...

Bridgestone is a Fortune 500 company with over $24 billion dollars in revenue in 2006.

Good point.

And they probably spend most of there attention (dollars) on there golf equipment. I am sure that they spend hardly any money towards there little tire business.

If you think their golf subsiderary is getting a large chunk of that Firestone/Bridgestone money your kidding yourself.

I want to throw in my .02 in about Bridgestone GOLF. From word of mouth, because I couldn't find a single demo club in San Diego to hit or even to look at, I bought a J33R 460. That is a first for me never demoing a club in 25 years of playing golf! The rep told me about a demo day at the last minute, that day, at a locate range, couldn't make it. That being said, I love this driver, when I get the proper shaft in it, well the 905R 757 might just get kicked out of my bag! I wonder what there irons play like???? Bridgestone did spend millions to help win a Formula 1 World Championship, can they just spend a little more on Golf so Pro Shops/Golf outlets, especially in So Cal., can have some clubs to show the general public.

You can find the irons in stores in san diego, but its hard to find the woods. I haven't looked in a while, but I have seen bridgestone clubs at Stadium golf center and Golf Mart in mission valley.

I fell in love with the J33R 460 at a demo day and bought one soon after. I have yet to find any other driver I like better. I probably would have bought a J33 3w as well if I could have found one in stores when I I broke my old 3w.
