Is a Clicgear cart that much better?

Recommended Posts

I have a bag boy quad. most of my friends/partners have clicgear, one has a sun mountain with air tires. They are all good. Clicgear is the best of the bunch but I wouldn't say much better. 3 wheels rolls better than 4 (esp thru rough), air rolls better than plastic. But I'm an unlucky guy and the idea of getting a flat scares me.

Just go with the Clicgear to make it easy. If I could go back id get it. But I do love my quad.

I bought a 3.5 in January and haven't looked back. The volume of available accessories alone makes it the best push cart option IMO. The 3.5 has a much improved strap system to the 3.0 and the storage net is a bit bigger (I think they advertise it at 25%).

Also, it folds up compact enough that this past Saturday I was able to fit 3 stand bags and 3 clicgears behind the back seat of my Ford Edge without any issues.

Also check ebay for the big sellers that have a "make offer" option. Thats how I bought my 3.0 a couple years ago for less than I could find it anywhere else. I think it was around $165 shipped.

Sports Authority has a 30% coupon posted on Slickdeal. some DSG will take that coupon.
these carts(3.0) are the BEST. i bought one for $120 last time when Modells had 40% off. and another one for $100 when GS had the "mystery" coupon of 50% off. though i had to pay $10 for the ccoupon to this guy who does not golf, lol. ended up with $800 worth of golf items from GS for $400

btw, if you do want to buy something from DSG, let me know, i have some GC which i will sell at 10% off so you can save another 10%. thx

also, some DSG does not take SA coupon, so YMMV. if one says no, try another one.

Thanks a lot! I called Sports authority and the coupon is only good in person so I'm headed there tomorrow. Thanks again for the help everyone!

It is and contact Discount Dan's Golf. You'll get it at an excellent price.
I saw on their website that you have to call for a price. Is that just how they do it?
That's code speak for Clickgear would get pissed off at them if they advertised the price and undersold most of their other sellers.
Anyone know in the ballpark what their price is?
I think I paid $169 or $179 for mine from DD
Mine was less than that and free shipping was included.

I bought a Tour Trek One Click 2.0 from Golfsmith for $129 a few months ago and love it. Looks very similar to the ClicGear.....folds up very easily; very smooth, great value.

Still loving mine. Yesterday I bought one for my almost 14 year old daughter (she plays on her Jr. High team and most of the girls use carts). GG matched a coupon and I got it for around $180. They also matched non-affidavit GS deal on Lethal balls, even though they didn't have separate 3 or 6 packs (gave me 2nd dozen 1/2 off).

Can anyone do a comparison between the Clicgear 3.5+ and the Sun Mountain Microcart? Interested in both and they're priced about the same.
I've had both. I liked the Microcart but it always felt flimsy to me. It did roll well and folded up small but every time I put my bag on it, I always had this feeling that the joints on it were going to break one day. So that pushed me to the Sun Mountain V2. The tank of push carts. And I liked it over the Microcart. Smooth rolling, lots of storage, but heavy as heck which comes with the heavy duty part. And it didn't fold up all that small. So now I'm using the Clicgear 3.5+ and I feel like I have the best of both. Heavy duty but folds up small, lots of storage and the number of accessories is a plus. Plus you can find some great deals on them and with the color choices, you can match just about any bag out there. I'm glad I made the switch.

I have both. I only have two rounds on the Clicgear but so far so good. I can't recommend the Sun Mountain Microcart. It was my first push cart and while it's wicked light and rolls better than the Clicgear, it is very fragile and not durable enough. I went through 4 of them in two years. First one broke at the lever that locks the cart in place during folding (cheap plastic lever). Second one the hand brake sheared off. Third one broke on the top lever that sets the angle for the handle (another cheap plastic part). This last time it fell apart on 4 hole when the screws that hold the thing together came loose and I had to carry my bag and the cart until the turn. I have ordered the parts to repair it but I got the Clicgear in the meantime and the Microcart will serve as backup duty.

The Clicgear appears to be much more stable and durable but it's also heavier and consequently, doesn't roll as well. With that said the wheels on the Clicgear are larger and roll over branches and uneven terrain better. Better storage on the Clicgear and plenty of accessories available. Both fold up to about the same size. I got the extended warranty on this one lol! Let's hope it lasts longer than 1 year.

Awesome info everyone. Gonna get a clicgear 3.5+ this week. One thing snout the umbrella holder. Will it only hold the clicgear one or can I get the footjoy umbrella. Just want the double canopy.
I have a Titleist umbrella and it fits great. As long as the umbrella has a standard type handle, you should be fine.

Isn't that a pretty common price for the 3.5?

If you are a kid, (and/or if cost is an issue), why not pick up a NOS or used 3.0?

I think my 3.0 works better than some of the 3.5s I have used at other clubs. I have had trouble with the lower strap and lower brace on the last 3.5 I used....screwed up my bag as the front wheel rubbed almost all 18 holes...
I recently replaced my 3.0 for the 3.5. I too find with my bag (Sun Mountain SCB DLX) that I have to be very careful how to place the bag-slightly angled on the lower brace on the 3.5- or it does rub. I've only played a few rounds with it so still getting settled. The water holder container is smaller than the 3.0.

How is the 3.5 in wet grass?
Like any push cart, it kinda sucks in wets grass. And if it's wet enough that the dirt underneath the wet grass is squishy it's way beyond "suck".

No way around that, though. Wet grass with mud underneath is just not a place you really want to be pushing a 50-pound wheeled object!

I played with mine in the rain yesterday, and it is fine. You have to be a bit more conscious of where you park it and brake usage, but it wasn't a problem at all. You can use just about any umbrella in the stock holder. My only complaint is that at 6'4", the stock umbrella holder doesn't let you see where you're going. I end up having to hold the umbrella to get it at a good angle and see where I'm walking.

Their new umbrella holder angle adjuster will fix that though.
