Had I put it on macro we'd have just all cried instead of just gotten sad a little. I've already got an order in with dans to replace it. Look for hideously damaged MC PW on the BST soon for bargain prices!

I'm coming from a set of TaylorMade R7 TP irons. Great sticks but looking to upgrade to something a little more workable.
I was looking at the TM CB and TM MC sets. The CB looks it terms of offset very close to the R7 TP line. I'm thinking about going with the MC's but was a little concerned about the lower irons, 4&5. I hit the CB and MB 6iron in a simulator a few days ago and they felt pretty similar. I did thin one with the MC. (Definitely should've brought my golf glove) I was averaging about 178 with both irons but the MC felt a little nicer when you caught it flush. Tried both the AP2, didn't love the feel and the mp64, just not forgiving enough.
HOw much forgiveness is lost from MC to CB in those long irons? How would you compare the MC long irons to AP2 or mp64 long irons?
Thx for the help.

I believe the MC is more forgiving then the 64 for sure. On low hits the mc bests the ap2. The cb are slightly more forgiving than the mc. For a players iron, the mc is rather forgiving compared to its counter parts, especially low on the face. While not a pure forged set, I struggle to feel any difference off the club face.

Awesome. Thx for the help. I bought the mizuno mp 64's but they were just tough, esp once you move into the 4 and 5. Pure when flushed but unless you are a serious ball striker, you will get some harsh feedback.

I really liked this TaylorMade line after a few years of that rocketbalz stuff. I was going to trade the 64's in and the TaylorMade's caught my eye. I think the MC will be the way I go. Sounds like I should be able to pick up a little more workability w/o sacrificing all forgiveness.
The R7 TP solid straight and draw shooters but tricking to fade for me. The offset of 4mm and 3mm+ in those long irons while forgiving just made it tough to manuever the ball to the left. Also the sole is probably a little thicker in the CB/R7 lines. The MC cuts down on the offset in the 4 and 5 irons to between 2 and 3 mm. Thanks for the input. I will put the MC and CB thru another test drive next week to confirm.

Great I'm really impressed with this line of TP offerings.
They look nice and sound like they are very solid clubs.
Trust me, I still game the R7 TP's. I've tried to kick them out but just haven't happened.

Taylormade looks to be back on track. Oh and these look much nicer than the R7's. Was never crazy about that yellow black goofy badging on the backside of the club. These are simple, clean, understated.

Has anyone experienced distance losses/gains moving to the new TP line from other similar models?

Came from Rocketbladez and Speedblades going to CB's. I'd say they are the same as SB's on good swings, and maybe slightly less forgiving than the SB's.

Q, I will echo CPP up to the SB's. Coming from 2 sets of Rocketbladez (nippon/i95). I have gained with the CB's over either set of RBz and forgiveness seems better, kind of work in progress. I, personally would see some loss of distance with the MC or MB. I don't have enough talent to hit those consistantly! :)

Dear TaylorMade,

Please offer an AW in the MC's. Yes I realize I'm a minority who wants an AW to match the set... but I do.

I can guarantee sales of 1 which is surely your breakeven on setting up the molds etc. If you want... just make the PW with 4 more degrees of loft.

I've now bought two PW's from you due to a rock incident so this is the least you can do to appease me!

Sincerely,

Anser

P.S. Yes I know I could probably bent the other PW I have 3 or so degrees... but don't wanna monkey with the bounce.

  • 4 months later...

Can anyone do a side by side of the MC and MB long irons? Maybe a 3 or 4? I'm going to place an order and I was going to get the MBs, because they usually have very little offset, but the MC isn't bad.

Is the feel dramatic between the two? I've only been able to hit the 7i MC, which isn't forged. Had Rocketbladez Tours. Really like the feel of the Nike VR pro blade and the Mizuno MP4, etc.

Is the TP MB right up there in softness? Because the MC 7i was quite a bit harder.
