Aldila ATX Tour 2019 Hybrid Data. Trackman Comparison to Tensei Pro + Thump

Recommended Posts

This is the Tour only, at the moment, Aldila ATX Black hybrid. All shafts tested in this test are the 100 gram, TX flex version of the shaft. Test club and set up are listed below.

M3 Tour Issue Hybrid

18.7 degrees of loft

1 degree open faced

39.5 inches

D3

Pure Midsize Grip

I would assume these is enough info here so that everyone at this point either knows how, or can easily spend 30 seconds to search the feel and playing characteristics of Tensei Pro Blue, Tensei Pro White and Diamana Thump. The wild card here is the ATX Graphene Black. I would say it does not feel as stout as the Tensei Pro White, but does feel tigher than Pro Blue for sure. The launch and spin tend to lie right in between the two, which I think is PERFECT for most good players. A lot of guys find that modern hybrids spin too much and go left on them, and we've had to really go to stiff and tight profiles to make them playable in a lot of ways. The ATX Black gives you that smooth feel where you don't feel like you need to jump on it to make it perform, but at the same time keeps the launch and spin low, but not TOO low. I think this shaft fits exactly where it needs to, and the Graphene technology really again allows Aldila to make a tremendously smooth shaft that plays very tight. It's the best of everything.

They come in 85, 95 and 105 and are available in the link below.

And yes I will be putting up the typical 3-4 more tiers of swing speed data every few days moving forward.

Thump h100 in an x-flex?

x-flex comes in h90 as well (90 g).

I, too, am surprised by the spin/launch of the thump

I see the Black Proto seems to do very well, with a tad bit more spin. I'll be installing mine (85TX) in the Titleist 818 H2, shortly.

I like the data blocks. Helps me to understand the placement of the shaft I'm interested in compared to others.

Thanks for all the hard work, TollBros!

Thank you sir. I know sometimes we may throw out info thay just isn't that interesting to people and that's ok. However if it helps customers, even one great one, then I will finish this one up for you. :)

Another data block. If anyone cares about the fourth, let me know, otherwise the lack of interest in this thread has me ready to just forget about updating further.

Thanks for the data TB

Thank you sir. I know hybrids aren't so sexy but the double eagle I made last year with my 3 udi with Tensei pro white would never have happened without a perfect set up. :)

I use my hybrids quite a bit. They’ve become very reliable for me going at Par 5’s in 2 or off the tee on tight holes.

JT, any guess where the MCA OT Hybrid shafts would stack up against the tested shafts?

I would love to know, but at this point I've only hit the stiff flex and that's really not going to give a very good representation of what they are really about. Hopefully soon we will run the TX through the paces.

Thanks Toll for all the data. I don't always comment on all the threads but I keep tabs on them and read all the data blocks and comments.

Thank you. It's helpful when we get feedback, because there's only so much time we have for external testing, and I would hate to waste that time on things people just don't really care about. If it's not interesting, it doesn't hurt my feelings, I just need to know so we can invest that time in testing other things if interest lies elsewhere.

When the thread for Lamkin grip alternatives has more views, I know it's a dud. haha

Love the info, much appreciated JT.

Played the white 100tx in my DI for most of last season, but not enough launch/spin to reliably hit into par 5s. The ATX sounds great

We don't like to release the tipping data to discourge people trying to fit themselves. Each player requires something different in reality.

That makes sense and thanks for answering. Love the data once again.

Well I was asking since this post is over 3 months old, hoping I guess it was now, or soon. So I can buy one through that link? I tried it but didn't see anything about how to buy

Tour only stuff can often stay that way for awhile unfortunately, sometimes never releasing to the public. Send TollBros a PM directly to inquire about purchasing any of the products he posts about.
