This is complete conjecture, but I would think that the TaylorMade R9 TP is likely the most played iron set on tour. TaylorMade has an astounding number of touring professionals I would have to presume most are playing the R9 TP.

Titleist TS3 10.5° w/ Tensei AV 55 Stiff
Titleist TS2 16.5° w/ Tensei AV 65 Stiff
Titleist TS2 21° w/ Tensei AV 75 Stiff
Titleist U510 23° w/ Tensei Blue AM2 Stiff
Titleist 714 AP2 5-9 w/ XP 95 S300
Vokey SM8 46°, 50°, 54°, 60° w/ XP 95 S300
Scotty Cameron California Del Mar 34"

Callaway's TV commercials are boasting that their irons are the #1 irons in golf based on the Darrel Surveys....but Cleveland says that about wedges, TM says it about drivers, Footjoy says it about shoes & gloves, and Titty says it about balls. Any truth to their advertisements?

I think these advertisements are referring to number one in sales as well

what do you guys think about the r9 tps im hearing mixed reviews, but a ton of pros use them
Come on, they play them because they get paid to do so.

Any pro playing their own irons would usually chose titleist or Mizuno just like most tradesmen use Dewalt tools

TM do make some good clubs, but its time to drop the charade with respect to pros, the tour and TM

TM PAY LOADS OF TOUR PROS TO PLAY THEIR CLUBS AND USE THIS ADVERTISING TO GREAT EFFECT. THIS ENSURES THAT THEY ARE NO.1 ON TOUR

This DOES NOT EQUATE to TM being the best clubs

Question was what are the most played, not best, so who cares what the pros would play? If you could get paid to use something in your profession, that was probably 99.99999 percent as good as what you could be using otherwise, you'd probably take the money. P.s. I hate titleist irons, they are so harsh and clicky in my opinion I don't understand how Titleist and Mizuno are even in the same sentence. That's like comparing a prov1 and a topflite.

Not sure if or why DeWalt is the defacto standard here as I have found them to be second rate at best. I'll take Milwaukee or Porter-Cable over a yellow Black&Decker pretty much across the board.

Not much but any teen it up money???? Whtttt

Not much teens money it up? WAHAuTT?

Maybe he meant if Mizuno was a little more liberal with the sponsorship money, more professionals would use their equipment - money talks (it doesn't literally talk).

EDIT: I think he beat me to it. Loosely translated to English, money does in fact talk.

mizuno irons are for short people. i would have to have them bent 3 to 4 degrees upright from their standard lie. to much trouble really; titleist might click, but at least they fit taller people. i wish hogan irons were still produced in Ft Worth by the Hogan company. but oh well.
I'm 6'6" and play Mizuno...they are around 5 degrees up but it's worth it to me.

OT: Titleist looks to have the most sets, if Mizuno paid though I wonder how close they would be to the top, they were number 1 seven straight yrs not too long ago.

Titleist TSi3 10* TPO 1K 60-TX

why dont you see any pros using mp58s
You probably would see pros playing a lot of different brands, but Mizuno just doesn't have as many sponsored players. The sponsorship deals make it mandatory to keep a certain amount of the sponsor's clubs in the bag. We will never know what Irons pros would actually play if none of them had equipment deals.

most pros are not stupid enough to play something they are not comfortable with, all companies can tailor an iron to meet the wants of the player...bottom line..anyone on this board who "hyper-analyzes" the difference between the irons of different companies doesn't know what they are talking about...pros still have the liberty to play any shaft they want as well...

saw a study where pros were asked to hit different irons wearing earplugs...most pros couldn't tell the difference between the different brands and configurations....

this board is filled with people who obsess about different irons...
