I'm personally really excited about the new 2011 B330. The B330 has always been just a bit too clicky, without enough spin around the green. It's always been really close, though.

We are told the new one is a touch softer, and with an improved construction (RD-10 resin and a new dual mantle design), I'm looking forward to testing it.

I used the Z Star tour yellow near the end of last year and I liked it.

I think the B330 has always been the best wind ball, with Tour ix up there with it...add a little more greenside touch and feel and it's my new ball.

Anyone else feel the same?

Easily my favorite ball hands down! They b330's dont spin as much as prov's but that is fine with me especially on full shots. I honestly haven't noticed the clicky feel/sound you are talking about. If the new version is improved then it's gonna be hard to beat these balls!

B330-S is the closest to the V1x in each category (i.e. short & long irons, wedges, putter, driver, etc), followed by the Penta and the Cally i(s).

I have to agree with the view on the B330 as the best for wind and distance. Didn't like the Z Star X, Cally i(x), or Nike Tour D in comparison to the B330.

Pleasee note that the original psoter ask for alturnative balls "that won't break the bank".
Yet some folks post selections such as the Pentas (most exspensive ball on the market) , Z-Star's, Bridgesstone's, and other $40+ balls.

Nitros are the best. $5 per dozen at Wal mart :man_in_love:

I prefe rCallaway balls. The Tour IX's and Tour i's can be had for $30 if you can still find them. Taylormade TP are also running 2 dozen for $45 (or even $40) and they are the best ball (technology wise) in that price point.

While I have not played them I've had a lot of people suggest to try the Titleist NXT Tour, a couple of people at a local course refer to them as the poor mans Pro v1. Bridgestone e7 also seems to get alot of respect. I also liked the TM Burner TP LDP (Not sure what the new Burner TP is like yet) and my favorite ball is the Srixon Trispeed Tour. All of these balls are Mid-level priced balls that I feel are best performance and value together. .

i go by price so rate by 1-sub 20$ 2-20-30$ 3-31$+

1-burner tp. i got these at wally world for 9$/dozen. apparently people are finding the tp red at target on the cheap too.

2-srixon trispeed or bridgestone e6. love both of them

3-z-star.

being an employee of uncle sam i almost always play the sub 20$ balls. i might try the new bridgestone fixx when the tp's dry up.

b-330's and z star's are all at $30/dz so are the nike tours, tp blacks, and tp reds which are all great balls

I have played the Pro v 1x for about three years, but halfway through the season my buddy was ranting and raving about the Bridgestone E6. LMAO!!! I ended up playing three straight days with him and that ball and I knocked of about an avg. of 4 strokes of my game. I was shocked :partytime2:. I noticed that the ball spin around the greens isn't as good as the Pro v 1x, but I got used to that. I also noticed that the E6 takes a lot of the side spin out of my shots (off the tee and second shots). I'm not much of a shot maker so this ball suites me well. If your looking to hit a straight ball I would strongly recommend the E6...don't knock it til' you try it!!!

I always thought the B330 was equivalent to the ProV1X and the B330S was equivalent to the ProV1. Correct?

This is correct. The B330 is a lower spin ball.

I like the standard B330 - best ball on the market. The thing gives me 5 to 10 extra yards off the tee and feels great.

I also game the e6 during the year for just everyday golf and the B330 for more important rounds and tournaments.

Similar to those who play NXT tours and PRO-Vs.

For $19.99 you should try the MG Tour C4. Just got a couple dozen and they feel like a Pro V1...but I haven't been able to play them yet (SNOW!). From the reviews I've read they seem to be the best bang for the buck for a 3 Piece Urethane ball. I can't wait for a clear day to see how they are on the course. I'm hoping I like them...I'm excited about the prospect of a decent Pro V1 type ball for that price.

Here is a link to some WRX'ers who have actually played it: http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/topic/294661-mg-tour-c-4/

This is from the MG site:

Long distance, straight drives. The 382 aerodynamic dimple design and the extra-large core gives you the longest, straightest drives ever!
High spin, soft feel greenside. Like the Pro V1, the Tour C4's urethane cover (not Surlyn® like an ordinary ball) gives you high spin and a very soft feel without sacrificing durability.
$19.99 a dozen, money-back guarantee. Try them. If you're not satisfied just send them back within 60 days (even if they're used) for a full refund of the product price!

Pro V1 Performance for only $19.99 a dozen! Carry, total distance and spin were as good as Pro V1 in robot testing.
