Pants for a tall thin golfer.

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm a tall thin guy and I really struggle to find proper fitting golf pants/trousers. I recently bought a pair of FJ Glen Plaid trousers in size 36w/32l, and they are too short. I'm annoyed because I really like them and they seem to be really good quality. Ive thought about taking them to a tailor, but I doubt they will even fit then.

So I'm after some other ideas for golf pants that are high quality, come in 36w/34l, and something that has a 'cut' that will suit a tall thin guy like myself.

Fire away.....

All of my pants are 36x34. I've tried lots of different kinds to find a brand/style that fits me well. My problem is that I have to watch out for the "slim fit" style of pants. I played hockey for a lot of years so that has resulted in "hockey a**." The slim fit style don't fit my upper legs/posterior.

That being said, the Nike Dri-Fit pants (36x34) tend to fit me the best. I have tried on some versions of Nike pants that fit tighter than others, but in general the Nike pants fit me well.

Other pants that I bought a few years ago that fit really well are Snake Eyes pants. I was at Golfsmith and they were having a sale on Snake Eyes pants that were $20 a pair! They are the same "dri-fit" material and look really nice.

they have 25% off a couple pairs at the moment

just an FYI, I'd stick with the highland pants, the material is what you'd expect for golf pants and they're cheaper. The Heathland and the Palmetto pants are basically upscale chinos.

The Nike Modern Dri-Fit pants tend to be not as slim as some of my other "slim fit" pants. They do fit me well I just wish the leg openings tapered a bit more. I know i've said this in other threads but I really like the Dry-Ex pants you can buy from Uniqlo (Adam Scott wears them). Their slim fit pants are pretty tight but their regular fit ones are slimmer than the Nike Modern fit pants. I have 4 pairs so far and I wear them a lot more than my nike ones. All of their pants are 34"L to start and they offer free tailoring in store. Added bonus is they're usually way cheaper than any name-brand golf specific pants, too.

I'm 36/34 and slim build and have had good experiences with Adidas and Maide/Bonobos.

Uniqlo Dry and Dry Stretch trousers. I buy them in 35/36 X 34 (depending on availability and how many layers I want to tuck in) and think they are great. Uniqlo's stuff is typically 'slim' by default
They are regularly $40, but can be had on sale a couple times a year for $29. I actually just bought 4 pairs via their latest sale. The 'normal' sizes go quick when they do have them.

BTW when did regular become slim? I've wore the same trouser size since college and regular used to fit fine back then, now they sometimes border on being baggy clown trousers ;)

I agree, the OP should try the modern fit tech pants for a slimmer fit

Thanks for the replies guys. Appreciate it. There seems to be a lot of love for nike and uniqlo. With the uniqlo dry-ex, is that the same as the dry flat front pants? I am in Australia and there is a store about an hour away from me. Will look into them. If there's any others please post!

Uniqlo is quote nice. They have a few different materials so you have to read the names carefully. Sometimes the shirts and pants seem to change around a bit. At least online. That said, in AUS they're probably goign to be pushing Adam Scott pretty hard, so you might find some nice stuff.

I also found some nice slim fit lightweight pants at GAP that work great. And Calvin Klein has some nice slim fit pants too.
