Out of the Vokey, Cleveland, and Calloway wedges out this year, which grind works best of your chipping technique in tight lies around the greens? These lies are very tight.

Have only seen a few of them so far.

Dan mentioned the V grind. Someone came for a lesson the other day and had a V 60*. It was great.

All "tips" are welcome. Instruction not desired.

The cleveland rtx-3 I believe comes standard with their version of the V grind. I have it on my 58* and it's solid.

Driver: Sim2 with Ventus Blue 6x
FWY: Sim 2 Ti w/ TenseiAV Raw Blue 75x
Hybrid: PXG 0317x 17* with Fuji Pro 2.0 85x
Irons: PXG 0211ST w/KBS Tour X
54*: Titleist SM6 S grind black finish
58*: New Level Golf SPN Forged M Grind
Putter: Toulon San Diego

Any thoughts on the Mizuno T7’s? Comparisons to the Vokey V grind?

Not even close. The V grind has to be seen in person. The bounce angle listed, how they measure it, won’t be represented in the number given. They measure the leading edge to the trailing edge, essentially ignoring the high peak in the middle.

The V digs less yet lays open better than the Vokey D grind even though the D has “more” bounce the way they measure it. Side by side it’s obvious which one really has more bounce.

Thanks for responding! Do you know what the measured bounce on the V is?

Have you seen the Callaway X Grind? Similar description but by what you're describing, maybe not even remotely similar.

10* from leading edge to trailing edge. But that’s ignoring the large peak in middle of sole.

Here is V grind vs a 14* bounce wedge

What about Ping Glide TS? I think you'd mentioned that one in the past. At least from pics, TS sole looks thinner than V.

It’s thinner. It works well for guys who play in firmer conditions like Bermuda down in south. But V works everywhere including soft conditions

Is the current updated Glide TS still around 18-20 degrees of measured bounce?

Yep..they list it as 6 degrees "effective bounce" but the angle from leading edge to the highest point is around 20*

Dan, what do you typically recommend for the player who plays the Glide 2.0 TS grind but wants a higher measured bounce with the versatility of the TS in say 54 or 56. Ping will not let you order the 58 TS two degrees strong. Love the looks of the V-Grind but its tough to put the $200 a wedge Titleist wants for that V grind.

Hard to add what’s not there. A SS Ping with a trailing edge/heel grind would work decent. But that’s probably gonna cost close to the Vokey

Good example of how you can't make something out of nothing. The wedge on the right can never look like the one on the left (and the right wedge has "more" bounce)

Yeah I know. I'm just disappointed the 58 TS can't be ordered 2 degrees weak and essentially not giving a mid-fifties degree loft design like Titleist is giving on the V grind. The best club fitter around me won't try it since Ping doesn't give the option. I guess I just need to quit being cheap and break down and do 58 and 54 in the V and order both 1 degree weak since playing the TS in 60 and a V in say 54 could likely lead to gapping issues on full shots since their from two different OEM's.

Would V grind be a good choice for kikuyu grass. Drives me nuts I practice mostly on poa, then play a lot on kikuyu and it takes me awhile to get more precise.
