Anyone play the early 90's Lynx Parallax Irons?

Loved them, but mainly because Boom Boom was a Lynx guy!

Loved the old Lynx irons. If I could find a nice set of Prowlers I'd pick up a set.

So finally grabbed a picture, are these the same irons you guys were talking about? I have these from 3i to PW and love them. (Although I took the 3 and 4 out of the bag for hybrids) Once again, these were pass-me-downs from my dad and I have zero reason to really replace the remaining irons I use cause I love them. I did replace the woods and hybrids with more modern equivalents based on some recommendations from people.

I have had a set that looks like these for probably 15 years or longer. They were given to me by a second cousins husband. 3- SW. Sw has a red cat, all others are white. He was a big golfer and didn't need them anymore because he had new clubs. I've always had major difficulties hitting the longer irons. Have had some good moments with the 5 iron and 7 but the only really consistent clubs have been 9, PW and SW. I've been looking into game improvement irons or super game improvement irons because I may start playing again and willing to change those couple perfect long balls for more fairway shots. I've been to the range lately and still have no consistency with the longer clubs. I will say, when I hit them well it's has such a soft feel and the ball just pops. They are very heavy in comparison to some of the new stuff that's out there. The steel shafts seem pretty stiff, I'll try to see what they are. I've seen it mentioned that they are cast, this looks and feels like a forged club head, how were they manufactured.

If someone can give some information on these particularly age range, manufacturing method (forged vs cast) or any other general information that would be awesome. Everything seems to be categorized into, SGI, GI, or players irons, where would these fall in the category? I'm guessing players irons. Since they are cavity back these would have to be more forgiving than blades or muscle back type clubs?

I found this thread and some others because I've been thinking about going with some hybrids or some super or game improvement irons to make life a little easier. If I went hybrids I may just keep the higher loft clubs and upgrade the woods otherwise the cobra MAX clubs seem to have favorable reviews and seem to be very forgiving clubs at a decent price. If anyone has any suggestions I'd be all ears. I'm not a bad golfer, I just have bad shots which really butcher my game. In my slitly older years I think restraint will do me well and if I were to go out today and play around I go could probably muster right around 100 if playing by the rules. Thanks in advance. I'll try to find some more info on the shafts.

So is the UK brand seperate from the Golfsmith stuff?

I think so

I played these for several years and I think one of the reasons I like my Ping ISi's so much is the thin top line like the Parallax. Great irons mid to late 90's!

I just re shafted my Parallax irons with XP105's and new grips and I'm bringing them out of retirement. After trying Ping G15's, G20's, X20's and Vapor Speeds, I'm going back to what I know and love, my 1993 Lynx Parallax.

I love my set of Parallax (got 91 3-SW) but really wish they had a LW in the shape of it. I've been pretty bad with LWs as I cant find that jibes with the Parallax shape/look. I was thinking of next trying a Eye2 LW.

Anyone know what the color code on the Parallax irons mean? I see red and white. What's the difference?

From ironfinder.com:

"Cat logo color indicates lie: white=std, yellow=3flat, orange=2flat, red=1flat, purple=1up, blue=2up, green=3up."

Here's the link:

I played then for at 6 years. I loved them until I realized I couldn't stand the offset and they were almost impossible to bend. I needed them more upright and couldn't move them more than about 1 degree. They were a mesh between the Ping eye2 and the TA silver Scots. If Ping would reproduce the the Eye2 with minimal offset I would play them.

Just picked up 1 through p lynx parallax irons with lynx lite shafts. Good shape too because they all have head covers. 3 and 5 metal too. Could use new grips. Wanna see pictures?

Yep, this was my takeaway after picking up and old set and gaming them for a bit. The offset was just TOO much for me. One thing I don't need help with is closing the clubface so it was just WAY to easy to snaphook these guys.

Still love 'em though ... just won't be gaming them.

3 yrs ago, I picked up the game again after about a 25yr layoff, still using my Lynx Parallax Beryllium Copper head Irons that I bought around 1984ish, with Driver and all clubs cost me about $22-2400 bucks, I’ll be buried with them, lol, only problem is not the clubs, my body, lol, shrunk about 2”, torn left shoulder and a busted up surgical left knee, still hit’em good, just had to cut down the 2 iron, I did purchase a new Black Cat Driver, 3 & H3, playing with shaft length on those...

I had a set and I like them really were but then again it was because of boom boom at the time he was one of my favourite golfers and I did get a set of the black cats. I like them a little bit better.

Played the Lynx Black Cat irons for many years. Retired them as they had a problem with the heads flying off. Play the Cobras now and picked up about 10 yds per club. Lucky I never hurt anybody with them. People that still like them can get them all day on EBay for cheap.

I still play with my Lynx Parallax irons. Got them new in 1988. Was stationed  in Japan at the time.  3 thru SW.  Still in good shape.  Same steel shafts.  I kinda regret never getting the woods.

I wish I had kept mine. I gave them to a junior and he loves them. I might look for a used set again haha.

Found another set here in Canada on Kijiji. They are on their way and I'll have them in the bag in a week.
