Bryson DeChambeau's new Cobra King F9 Speedback driver

Recommended Posts

The driver is outstanding. Anyone that loved the LTD Pro will want to get their hands on one of these. Cobra has really been bringing out great stuff the last few years and nobody is playing it unfortunately.

Toll,

Will you be releasing any data on the F9 club head? Or do you typically only release shaft data?

It depends on if we decided to do a head comparison data thread this year. If we do that, yes we will release the data for the vast majority of major OEM heads. We did one 2 winters back and everyone seemed to enjoy it, so it is a possibility.

Can you share your personal thoughts on it? Or, as a representative for your company here, is that kind of off limits. I understand you can be in a tough spot having access to so much high end gear and trying to share what you can on a forum full of gear heads.

Much of what we test is far ahead of release and embargos so it's a tight spot sometimes. I can't give out the data right now but I can say that if you guys liked LTD pro or F8+ you'll love this head. Cobra has some of the old Taylormade guys designing for them now and these drivers just keep getting better and better. The ball speeds are top level, spin is very low and forgiving is more than excellent for a head that is so low spin. It's a total winner in my opinion.

I have eagerly been awaiting info on the new Callaway driver. As a huge fan of the Epic SZ that had too many heads break down, I have been awaiting a suitable replacement from Callaway. The Rogue just didn't do it for me. For some reason this F9 speaks to me. I am hoping it will keep up with whatever Callaway has to offer. I will only have the option to test it indoors in a less than ideal setup. So, I really have to rely on the GolfWRX generated hype and reviews to help steer my decision.

... I don't think I have ever seen a Tour Staff add a new diver to their bags so quickly. Rickie, Bryson and Lexi are all already playing the F9. Gotta be pretty special for that to happen.

I've been touting Cobra for over 5 years and nobody seems to think there as good as the big boys. I personally disagree. People need to give them a shot and see how their drivers perform. Cobra is making some really good equipment!

I'm getting a full bag fitting Friday but this fitter is going to have to pry my F8 3w out of my cold dead hands before I switch to anything else. Best feeling fairway wood I've ever played, and it's not even close.

Bryson must be one of the hardest to deal with golfers on the planet. when he putts it that the bag that quick, it either must fit his standards really good or the driver IS awesome

around mid january

We still have a couple of our staffers that still play the LTD Pro and both guys are drooling over the chance to get their hands on one of these in a personal capacity. In my opinion, the LTD Pro was a total home run, and everything since then has been top shelf as well. I REALLY wish companies would get away from this adjustable loft thing and make actual lofts, like Taylormade. It would open up a ton more options for myself and a lot of players I know who sole the club at address and don't want to look at something 4 degrees open faced in an attempt to not hit it sky high. That's really my only complaint about Cobra drivers.

Cobra has gone back to that in this model has it not? Weren't they the last manufacturer to have one universal loft?

I received one to test today just as you described it is very good..imo opinion f8+ felt a little better to me, but f9 was better performance and it wasn’t close can’t really discuss any more..

Under construction....
