great question.. I think it depends on the set ....and depends on what the set differences are...

as in IF the 1st sets are indeed limited and different then yes i think the limited set "might" be investment worthy if kept in the box etc , depending on what he does from here forward AND if he continues to play this iron... Lots of IFs.... Im judging them VS what ive known new in box 681T irons to go for.... none have crossed the $2k mark that ive seen . Now if the later sets arent limited boxed , numbered, or include the reported "letter from Tiger " or what ever the special paperwork is thats included and yet still carry the same price , then NO those are not going to be worth more than $2k... ever.. May as well play those...

all my opinion of course.

Well that’s a new worlds record then. And I’d put the T irons value above these. For sure.

Don’t buy them for an investment. Only ONE set has ever gained value I know of.. The Titleist T irons that really were duplicates of what Tiger played in a wooden case/box with authentication letters as well as the tournaments won on a plaque. There were less than 25 sets of those and they all went to Titleist VIPs.. There were a few not authentic sets given to other executives. Less than a handful of those had a letter signed by Tiger before he left for Nike.. A few were sold in Asia for low to mid 5 figures..

Of course in an attempt to make some money off Tigers name before he left Titleist did offer a limited edition of what Tiger played to the public. Pure unadulterated junk, lousy cracking chrome, lofts were off, wrong shafts, even lies were off, head weights were so off in many of the irons they didn’t use the Tiger hickory dowel in the shaft they had to use 13 grams and up lead or brass tip weights to get near D3 (personal experience taking a set apart to figure out why they felt so awful)

Experience from buying virtually every limited edition over the years whether it Seve, Jack, Arnold, Lema, Hogan, Snead, lots of reissues of MacGregor classics..

Now a duplicate of Tiger’s putter is an entirely different matter????

I think those are the miura forged T set with numbers beside the T. I think he’s talking about actual 681 T irons in the cherry box etc.

He said it felt easier to control shots and they were more consistent. They first did it to get the sweet spot in the middle instead of toward the heel, but he also started hitting much better shots. Obviously the sweet spot feels the best in any iron, but I can see how a tungsten plug would create a bigger difference in feel between the center and a mis-hit.

> >

> > Harder metal? The next step up is 1030 which very few use. 8620 would give a harder feel but not a true forging. Wouldn’t make any sense to heat treat 1018, 1020, or 1025 to give a harder feel as that defeats the purpose of a forging. Doubt seriously Mizuno used anything by 1025. Many of the raw heads I saw at Titleist were marked 1025. Nike who knows, maybe they used 1030 to achieve a hard feel..

>

> I think so, but I could be wrong. I don't know all about the different metals, but I know his is not the stock metal that TM uses. He said he liked a deeper feel, which the tungsten helps with some. I think TM said in here that they use 1025 for them, but a Golfweek article says they use 1020.

I read Tiger's words the same way... he likes a slightly harder, "solid" feel.

Funny enough when he said that, it made me think of Miura forgings being described in the same way LMAO!

May 1 is the actual release date and it's normal for TaylorMade pre-orders to sit in a processing status until the release. I've had orders never leave the "still being processed" status, but were delivered on time with no issue.

If you have any concerns, call TM customer service and inquire about your order status. But nothing sounds out of the ordinary here.

As others haved said, certain Dynamic Gold Tour Issue shafts are on back order until mid May. We have a few custom orders of 730's and 760's that were placed in March and ETA now end of May. Needless to say customers are ready to cancel. I would wager anything that most of Tour Issue stock was allocated for P7TW builds. Go where the profit is? :|

well, not really. I ordered p730 with DG tour issue last spring and ran into same issue, it's not because of the P7TW. Was actually worse last year, placed my order in March and got delayed over a month on some heads and a few tour issue shafts. I ended up waiting a month and half and then cancelled. I placed my order early too, some people didn't get them until summer. They are under new ownership and don't have nearly as much components in stock for orders, seems to be a problem going forward.

Sounds good. I knew it was a pre-order just didnt know how they did it. Thanks gents!!

might want to call taylormade yourself and find out. Where I ordered mine from they originally told me 2 weeks and after waiting the 2 weeks nothing showed up. Called them and they told me would be a small delay of a week or two because of shaft being out of stock. Waited two more weeks and nothing. Finally, I called TM myself and talked to someone who knew what they were doing and was able to find my order in the system. There was a big backorder for a few heads and would of been another month and that's when I cancelled. Ordering anything from TM in the spring has become a nightmare.

Mine were in a mahogany box, the irons had no 1/x number on them only a serial number, only T no 681. No mention of Muira although the chrome was flawless not like the trash they sold to the public. Private sales easily exceeded $27,500. Don’t know about the other 49, but that was the set I HAD! The duplicate TW putter went for a lot more than the irons. To get premium prices you must know collectors, who rarely frequent auctions..

Yep. And it could have been mahogany.

The ones that miura forged were a Japanese release and weren’t 681 T copies. They were just to celebrate the slam ( or to celebrate something ).

Sounds like the ones you had were real deal copies of his irons. Truly special.

I’ve owned a tour set of 681 era titleist irons for several years that are pretty close if not identical to the true titleist set tiger played and they are blank where the T is on yours. Special set. And you know it when you hit them. Only pics I have on this phone. Can’t see details. But you can see the blank area where the model designation would be. Played pretty1pro38dajc0g.jpeg

dy6lyi553tdv.jpeg

well with them today.

Unfortunately it is. Hopefully it’s limited to a handful of people’s orders but I got mine in before they announced online. I believe it’s delayed a week or two which is a bummer but not the end of the world
