Hey all, quick update on what you're seeing on our website regarding dates...

 

Due to the unprecedented demand for these irons, some of the related components to the iron heads are displaying availability dates that aren’t realistic. Much of this is due to how our system calculates an automated delivery date. As we work through this temporary glitch, we'll provide the most accurate dates possible for each desired configuration over the next 24-48 hours. We'll let you know as soon as that happens.

Lying about being sold out is marketing strategy now? Im no marketing expert but thats a different approach. Clearly yall are going to make bank off this win anyways so it's all hogwash what I think haha. I just found it strange to go with that. I would have said we will be fully stocked up and ready to serve all you TW fans eventually. Be patient, this iron is our main priority for the next little while. Something like that ya know

This happened with the p730 irons last spring as well. Pretty big backorder on orders. I ordered a set that got back ordered for months because they ran out of 8 iron heads. Not many people buy blades so TM doesn’t make many at a time

The 730 doesn't have the tungsten weight and whatever secret sauce (wooden dowels, etc) that TW gets TM to put into his own clubs. Technically, I could do the same with my Miura MC501s (not that they need it) but i think that takes the point away - at the end of the day, TM can ask for stupid money for these irons, and there will always be people who will pay the asking price, and those who won't. There's no right nor wrong in this case.

 

Like you, I've had my share of tour van stuff (like a set of TM RAC blades with serial numbers that trace back to a certain Stricker - the irons have a different grain and look slightly different from my retail ones - and play MUCH softer) and JDM blades (MB5003, MC501). My regular retail blades run the gamut from Cobra Pro MB to Cleveland CG1 Tour (never got along with them), Srixon Pro 100, to Titleist 690MB and a bunch of RAC and TM MB blades, and despite all these, the TWs interest me because I'm really curious how Tiger's 'actual' irons play (if the marketing is to be believed that these are pretty much what TW plays).

 

Thing is, TM claims these aren't 730s. They may probably be based off the 730s, with some modification, but the part about each head being made separately, having different groove spacing and depth (?), etc has me wondering if this is a more bespoke 730, as opposed to retail 730s.

Now's the great time to pick up 730s for sure. I'm not entirely sure why the prices have dropped so much - they aren't terrible irons, and i'd put them up there with Mizuno MP5s. I'm not sure if the TWs will drop in price - i sure hope they do, so I can mess around with another set :smile:

Not sure if the thing about getting fit is the point though - sure, grip and length, but if you're going to be changing out shafts and tinkering with it, then it really makes more sense to get a set of 730s (I'd get heads only, so I could put in my preferred shafts), and have your way with it. The point of the TWs seem to be around having what TW plays (whether it fits you or not - silly, but hey), and less about optimizing a set for your game
