Tiger Woods 2019 Taylormade Irons...P7TW?

I have a set arriving in 2 weeks. Currently game Miura MC501 irons, and have a bunch of nice muscleback irons that I game from time to time, so if anyone wants to know how they stand up against MC501, MB5003, Srixon Pro 100, Titleist 690MB, I'd be happy to share my 2 cents.

No, just interested in how they compare to Nike VR Pro, Titleist 681, and Mizuno MP14.

Since Tiger is currently playing a final prototype of the iron that was made in a 1018C (1025C and 1018C are virtually the same steel, especially from a head design stand point. The hardness between these two steels is more important from a feel standpoint, and they share the same hardness at 71 HRB), we finalized and went to full production of the P•7TW at 1025C. As you are well aware, Tiger refreshes his irons a few times per season and we expect him to play 1025C in future iterations of the P•7TW.

Yea. Probably. Just in an irritated state. Want to buy a set of irons and really not been excited about anything yet. I like what I’m playing. But as firm ground approaches I know I’ll go back to a thin sole. So I’m looking. But$2k for a sorta set ? Maybe when a used set pops up for $800.

Could turn out to be like the m6. Hated the release drama. Love the club.

i am probably getting a set of these. I can't think of a set of irons that I have ever wanted like these. I have never been a Taylormade or really a Tiger fan for that matter. But I don;t care. These are top shelf.

I totally get it. I love the profile on the club, hate the price for sure. I would love the blueprint or Wilson staff, also.

For me it comes down to do I get these or MB001’s for actually slightly less when I wear out my 900 Tours. I’m a TM fan (play their woods and putter), but tough to justify the cost when I can get Miura's for a similar price.

That would be amazing! I love my 790s. I wish I could pick these up 7-pw. I’d like to hear someone compare these to the 730s.

Yep. Or checkout second swing and get a barely touched set of mb-001 or 57 small blades for $1200 from their collection of old stock and demos. This set should have been $1499. Tops.

Others will say no. But saying these should cost less than their existing retail blade, when configured similarly, is a fairly ignorant statement.

I’d counter and say that’s $250 too much for the 730. You can’t give them away for $700 lightly used. I’ve been looking at prices for 2 months.

When you get up to $2k you’re competing with top tier MBs. That’s black boron finish miura land. The comparison is fair. I’m not The only one saying it’s too much.

> I don’t understand all the hate over the price, if you can’t afford em or think that’s too much then don’t buy them. You guys can stick with your black boron joints or some other expensive iron that no one actually plays or has heard of and tell everyone how much better it actually is. These are the coolest irons to come to market in a long time though and a lot of us have been looking forward to em regardless of price for a long time .

First off. Welcome. That’s a heck of a first post.

Second. Price is. certainly in bounds in this thread. It’s a thread about selling or preordering this set of irons. If we start censoring based on price talk , it’s going to be a ghost town in here. ( here meaning the pre release section )

Third. This iron is all about the TW. If you laid out a set of TGR blades by MT , side by side with this set for the $2k , everyone here would chose the TGR set. So no. It’s not the most anticipated or coolest irons to come to market. It just happens to be the ones people can get their hands on currently.

They aren’t junk. I’m just of the OPINION that TM upping their new blade line to $2k is a pretty big leap. A leap afforded by pure markup. This supposedly is not a limited release. So now you have to look at it from a use standpoint. Not a collectible at all. If it’s ceiling for production isn’t low , there is no real collectibility.

Now I also get that you would like for this to be a warm and fuzzy thread where everybody cheers when they post their box opening.and that’s cool. So I’ll try to refrain from stopping by. lol

The TGR irons were 1 of 1. They didn’t come to market. Of course everyone would pick a hand made Mike Taylor TW set of irons that there’s only 1 in existence. Of irons that came to market in recent history these are for sure the most anticipated. I don’t care about price talk but it’s kind of a dead horse at this point either you want em or you don’t. People have been asking for something this close to tigers set since Nike days so a few extra hundys to me is not a deal breaker.

Justin,

For me, price point is not the issue- the fact that significant differences in material and weighting are being marketed as similar is the issue. Nike VR Pro blades were closest retail product to couple of actual Tiger sets I personally have held in hand. If you like product as listed and are in anticipation of a somewhat similar product being released,

then for you, value is there and I hope you enjoy them.

I've always enjoyed your posts! What do you believe to be the "significant" differences in material and weight? I get the 1025 v. 1018 argument.

I’m more curious if the headweights are spot on to TW. One small mistake on the milling machine input ... headweights are off

My set is due for May 1 according to rep., but several others have been given July dates. But those were ordered fairly recently. Sounds like the old P790 problem. Can’t help but wonder if these went from a LE (with the first issuance of the sell sheet it was hush hush and sounded very much like these were going to be limited by reps sales regions) to a catalog item, which may have caught them short of heads..
