Could Taylormade be any happier right now? Roll out these irons during Masters week and then Tiger is flagging his irons and chasing the leaders down at Augusta. Well played.

Besides the aforementioned argument, Tiger prefers a specific type of chroming process for durability, the weighting issue was regarding fact that location and amount of tungsten varies per iron to help avoidance of unwanted rate of face closure and to fine tune preferred launch window. Headweight tolerances would need to be very precise in order to get each shaft to perform as intended if indeed intention is to mimic preferences of TW. Another issue that have yet to see answered is whether this particular release has dowel treatment that Tiger has preferred in the past in certain sets.

Should be interesting to find where the tungsten plugs are in each iron. How much the location varies. Can be done with little powerful magnets like 1/8 inch herculittle magnets. Attach really hard to steel..high effort to remove, tungsten very weak to won’t adhere depending on how big the tungsten is compared to magnet diameter.. rechecked it on a set of old Ping S56 irons that clearly have W marked.. adhere strongly to everywhere on the body, but won’t on the W until you get near where it is pressed into the toe.

 

My rep said the limited set boxes will be made of premium materials and the irons will have hickory dowels in the shaft tips, while everything after the initial 5/1 shipment will just have black cardboard boxes and no dowels...he winked so not sure if he was pulling peoples legs or not..

How will we know if our set is limited or not? Mine was ordered before the launch with the impression it was going to be a limited edition. It was a custom order to my specs.

So orders early through a rep will most likely get the special set while orders online won’t?

See. I asked that very question. All I got was “ sleeps”. Are all you guys paying the same ? Limited and not ? Also a question I asked.

 

These could be the best irons on earth and the communication and release is still incredibly off putting.

 

You guys think I’m just griping. But if this set was what it should be ( it may be we don’t know yet ) and some of these questions weren’t still questions I too could have ordered. I had a rep texting me up until last week trying to get me to commit to one of the two sets he’s sending to the shop i buy from. But he couldn’t answer about the limited vs not etc either. Just pay and hope ? Has to be a better way.

Of the limited sets, yes. That’s what I was told when I was asked if I wanted a set about a month and a half ago.

@TaylorMadeGolf for tiger's iron, is his tiger specs bent from original standard specs, or was it forged in tiger specs? because if tiger's irons are bent from original specs this will affect the bounce

 

when consumers buy irons in tiger's specs, is it bent from standard specs?

According to our area rep. (as of this morning) if you got an email and a copy of the sell sheet from your retailer in March those were regarding the initial sets. I received my offer on March 1... He had 5 sets for a very large area at that time. Since then who knows he wasn’t willing to give anymore information other than the initial sets. All will be known in 17 days
