Romeo area player here. Anyone going out today?
Way way too windy .. Can't believe how dry it is. Playing harbor shores Tuesday am , and can't wait
Depending on what my girlfriend is doing I may be going out. At a minimum to the range.

Did you go out DonMega? I am in the Rochester Hills and Macomb areas a lot. I own a home near Kalamazoo (so I am all over the place). Down to play with people. Let me know your schedule and where you like to play! My girlfriend is just getting into the game so if your significant other is new to the game that would be helpful too. But down for whatever.

Played some good golf in Kalamazoo. Private course called Moors and Kalamazoo Golf Club. Both were very short courses.

Also played Ridgeview. Not bad at all.

Hopefully you played Ridgeview first, probably a bit of a let down after the others :)

The Moors is definitely more enjoyable from the back tees, but still a great course no matter what. Always in stellar shape.

Yes I've played Ridgeview, it was always one of the first to open after the winter.

Also, always enjoyed the Elks Club golf course. Very underrated. Too bad distances and surrounding developments take away from golf course. Has some really cool holes (15, par 3, 16, and 17). They are always changing course around so don't know if those are current hole numbers.

KCC is really fun to play but another course that is too short. 6300 yrds?

The Moors is probably the best course and even that course is short too 6600 yrds? Wonder if they can move some tees back?

Thornapple Valley was cool. Seemed to have a lot of potential but nobody spent the money to make it amazing.

The Elks Club is called The Prairies now, right? I'll never give that course another dime of my money. Every time I've played it in the last few years it's been a horrible experience. The course is always in nice shape, but the management now is the absolute worst.

Examples:

- You have a tee time, but when you show up there's 10 groups waiting on the first tee in front of you.

- There's always members playing in 5-somes or 6-somes

- They are famous for letting people off the back, so when you make the turn there are multiple groups in front of you waiting on the 10th tee.

- And if you book through Golfnow.....prepare to be treated like a second class citizen.

Wow. That's sad to hear about Elks Club golf course. It was always in great shape (on par with KCC and Moors). Many years ago, the original design had two holes that were parallel to W. Main St. They were incredible finishing holes. They sold the land and then developed the holes 13? 14? that run parallel to highway. With a little bit a added length the course could be amazing. Always fun to play.

The Moors is another course that was always in great shape and fun to play. It too needed a bit of added length.

What courses are still good?

I'm retiring the end of May. I'm 62 and about a 12 handicap. I'll be looking to play during the week. I'd like to get back out to Shepherd's Hollow this year. Maybe we can hook up there?
