SO. Who else is checking weather.com at least once a day checking the high temperatures..? Im watching the snow melt, and noticing no predictions for any more SNOWPACALYPSES. In 10 days it's supposed to hit 47 where Im at and it's supposed to start staying in the 40's, getting pumped! :yahoo:

Buckeye alum living LARGE in Bloomfield.

Hiss, Boo!!

Just kidding (kind of).

I used to work at U of M hospital, and it was funny to hear some of the comments the docs would receive when they would wear their Sparty or Buckeye stuff around. Do you catch much flak?

Have been living in MI for 35 years and it was tough when John Cooper was coaching/losing to the Wolverines. NOW it's great!

Chiming in from Lake Orion here. Lots of nice courses in the area. Some a little pricey, but if you are willing to watch the net you can get some good deals and play quality courses for good prices. Stoked about the recent weather reports, but not getting my hopes up. I can't wait until courses start opening up and I can get out of the dome and off the mats onto some grass

I'm back in Michigan full time after a couple years on the road. Toughest winter wait in my life, as I was absolutely dying to play. Played Eagle Eye for $40 on Saturday - glorious.

Looks like more bad weather this week, and then hopefully we're in the home stretch.

Is this JJ Johns?

This thread makes me want to get back out to Grosebeck for a round. It's been at least a decade since I've played there. I remember a couple of the stupid holes you guys have mentioned -- that par 3 that used to be #15, especially. That hole killed many a good round of mine. .

I know I haven't since they re-did it. I played a bunch of tournaments there as a kid. I'm going to have to play a nostalgia round there one time this summer when I visit my parents.

Way up north over the bridge! Ishpeming (I bet you can almost hear the YOOPER accent just reading it!)
[/quote]

What's up Ishpeming! Marquette born and raised here - Chicago now. Played Greywalls yet? I grew up on the ninth fairway of Marquette G&CC.

Man, sometimes I miss the UP - on both of the nice days you guys have up there every year.

I love the UP being represented in here - I remember in college guys signing up for the state am qualifier in the UP thinking that they would have the best chance at qualifying up there (that it would be easier) - so they would spend 6 hours in the car driving up twice (once for a practice round, once for the qualifier), and they would get their throats ripped by a bunch of yooper sticks up there - 67s being first alternates, stuff like that. Lots of good players up there relative to the length and qualify of the season.

I once got drummed out of the state am by a 15 year old kid from Marquette that birdied the first 6 holes...I think I made it to the 11th green. afterwards, I told him I was born in Marquette - turns out he lived in the house next to the one I grew up in...wonder what happened to him - he could really play. And he didn't take a single practice swing or putt - just looked at each shot, stepped up, and as soon as his feet were set, he took the club back. Fastest a**-whipping I ever took...

Looking to start a weekly skins game that travels to different courses in the area. If we get enough regulars I can get us discounts at courses.
Scratch Skins game
Closest to the pins (optional)
skins for best 9 hole scores and total
if you bust 2 weeks in a row we will have you move up a tee until you take something back
This will be all email communication and responses for attendance will be vital in making this work

Planned courses: Lyon Oaks, Salems Hills, Dunham Hills, Huntmore, Moose Ridge, Lakes of Taylor, Tanglewood, The Orchards, and a end of year 2 day mega skins up north (2012)

Price will be $40 including greens fees. $2 per player goes to mega skins end of the year final game where will play for the big pot. Must play 10 weeks in order to qualify.
The payout breakdown will be publicized prior to the game

$5 for closest to the pin if you choose to participate.

An example of payout breakdown
$40 buy in
$20 to green fees (will vary week to week)
$18 into skins pot
$2 to mega skins

skins to be divided equally, 9 hole skins are worth 1/2 a skin. 18 hole medalist gets a whole skin.

Tees will generally be the tips, unless weather is an issue and we will move up.

If interested just respond and I'll get you on the list.
