Those grips are super tough just to get straight. It is hard to believe he likes grip closed, but it works for him.

There is a video of scotty talking about the putter and how he drilled out the dots to get it to exactly D2 swingweight as requested by Tiger and then added the red dykem paint in it. Not sure where they are getting D7 swingweight from.

My only guess would be the lead tape on the bottom. I know he used to add some on slower greens, but since he's "come back" I haven't seen it without the tape. If you look close it looks like the tape is just part of the putter and slowly wearing off, so I'm guessing it's been there for a while.

How does he get such a light swing weight? That PING grip is only ~58g. I feel like with a 326g head he'd be higher than that still. I'm just thinking about wedge head weights as a point of reference...

Isn’t tigers swing weight famously D2? Cameron said that’s why the distinct red dots are there, because he accidentally made it D4 and had to drill it before putting it in the FedEx box.

Scotty Cameron is notoriously full of bull excrement when it comes to these stories. It might be true, or it might not be. I get the feeling Scotty prefers a good story to what actually happened.

What they might have done is installed the grip perfectly square and then pulled the shaft and reinstalled it one degree off centre to make it closed. Just twist the shaft around one degree

I can't believe the flat part of the grip has tight enough manufacturing tolerance to even allow for 1 degree of adjustment.

this is for one of his other SC putters, as Scotty Cameron said he had to use the paint fill in the holes due to it rusting.

I second this is just a nice story. When you work on Tiger’s stuff, there is no accident.

 

The story I heard is Tiger is just super picky with the weight. Scotty has to shave off a few grams.
