I'd say yes it's the first way I'd look to verify. The photo I posted from pros choice golf shafts was pretty helpful to me.

I reached out to him as I’m local and could save him the trouble of shipping. When I asked where he obtained the shafts he said wholesale from GG and that he just sold the last one. He didn’t mention the one(s) for sale under his other profile. Shocking he doesn’t want anyone seeing them in person.

I sent him a message and asked if he would cut the grip off one and send me a pic of the etched serial number. Told him I didn’t mind if it came with no grip. He replied and said they didn’t have the tools to do that and was sorry. It’s sad he has a couple for sale and if you look at his feedback he has so old quite a few as well and those folks probably don’t know they’ve been scammed.

Like cowboy I also sent him a message about buying local with no reply. I have even looked on Facebook market place for items for sale under his business account (vegan leather wallets wtf?). I’ll post again if I hear from him.

This thread saved me as I was “watching” an IZ shaft from this scammer. Moving forward, it would be nice if every AD shaft was sold without a grip so we could see if the number was etched into the shaft.

I am one who got scammed and his new eBay name is raptortrucks.

I called him out and response again was “I didn’t know it came from a M2 Driver”

So far he says send it back.

I concur, GD's ought to be displayed & shipped without a grip attached for verification, would certainly build credibility with the vendor IMO.

 

Just bought a cheap used club that has an MT-7s with it, not a big loss if fake but giving it a thorough lookover now. Slid the grip off with a removal tool and solvent and did find a serial number. Looks to be legit. I can make out what appears to be an over-lapping seam, there's a faint 'Tour AD' in the white butt portion, and when comparing with my IZ and TP models (TP bought from TM and IZ bought from golfworks), the 'rings' all lined up similarly and perfectly across the three. Will verify through ProChoice, but bumping for anyone who's not sure if what they have is legit. I know my TP and IZ are, if anyone wants to verify spacing/graphics, etc.

Hi all,

First post on the site - but have been reading for a long time.

Both a warning and advice. I've recently bought a rogue driver from a reputable online seller (though through eBay). I have no concerns at all about the head - I have another and it looks/feels/plays the same.

The shaft, however, I do have concerns about, and if it is indeed a fake, the fakes are so much better than they used to be! The graphics all look pretty good to me, but I'm worried about the absence of a laser etched serial number (serious alarm bells!). The graphics from what I can tell, and measurements are all pretty close to what should be expected looking at the other posts in this thread. Even the computer printed WIZ-6 under the grip is the correct model and font.

Let me know what you all think - I spent a fair bit of time looking at the photos of the original listing prior to pulling the trigger on this one, and really only worried once I pulled the grip (it was not me that butchered it with a knife!)

It was more after reading the comments about not having an etched serial number. Do they make some of these without them? If no, and this was a fake, I was keen to let the community know that there are some pretty impressive fakes now, compared to the more obvious ones photographed elsewhere.

I'd be delighted to hear it was legit - spent a long time going over the graphics etc, but just got a bit worried after blowing off the grip and seeing neither a GD hologram or serial. The only reason I could think of was if these were produced specifically for Callaway for their upcharge shaft market - but couldn't find any info that would support this.

I may have jumped the gun claiming it's legit. Compare the rings on yours with one you know is legit. In the fakes the color in the rings doesn't fade much and is more of a solid color. With the legit shafts the color tends to start out solid and fade out. Hard to tell in the pics. It looks like the fading is there on yours but can't tell for certain

I have an IZ hybrid shaft. I looked at the two pics I have of it and I'd say you're good. Looks nearly identical. Look for the seam overlap, kind of a telltale sign.

 

FYSA, I'm also looking to sell this hybrid shaft if interested. Currently trimmed for a 2H, so it'll be good for whatever hybrid you'd like,.
