BST Offers but not ready to pay

Had a member make him and offer, and I sent him back a very reasonable offer with my paypal info. Says he's on vacation and will try one at the shop when he gets back on Monday. I'm not really sure why he even offered me anything then. Obviously not waiting (and he said don't wait as well) until then to find out. I feel like just blocking him and anyone else who makes offers but isn't ready to pay. Do any other sellers block members that do anything like this?

Some probably do block. Just part of doing business in the BST it seems - lots of tire kickers. I wouldn’t block but to each his own. Just use the rule first to pay wins.

 

Edit - I misunderstood somewhat last night. If he offered and you accepted and he flakes that’s one thing. But you counteroffered - he’s not obligated to accept that and pay - even if we all think it’s “fair”. You’re actually being a bit unreasonable yourself.

I don't understand... You can paypal anywhere as long as you have internet..

You responded back to him with an offer that you thought was reasonable and included your paypal info. Sending your paypal info doesn't mean that the transaction is sealed. He never agreed to your offer nor did he say he will buy from you based on your offer. However, he did mention that he will think about it.

 

You may do whatever you'd like but I don't see a transaction happening. Just an interested buyer who is looking for a really good reason to buy.

If you wanted payment, should have accepted his offer. You did not, and now he’s going to think about it. And you want to block for this?!?

Maybe that was his polite way of saying “thanks but no thanks” to your counteroffer. Maybe if it were a little lower he wouldn’t have had to demo one before buying.

 

At least he responded at all, and didn’t send a message and then disappear. I don’t see what the guy did wrong, actually. He never committed to anything.

Sounds like he offered you what he was willing to pay, sight unseen, without having already tried the product you have. Then you counter offered with a higher number than his, so he needs to get some affirmation or he's thinking about it. Kind of sounds like how a negotiation should work so....

If you accepted his original offer OK maybe you can belly ache, if you did not there is nothing bad about his response. He had a number, you did not like it, he needed more incentive to move on the purchase

I say deal was signed sealed delivered. Dont block him. Report him and maybe sue him for lost wages. Time is money.

The member did read this thread and we did end up making a deal. I want to point out that I was not frustrated by what happened in our negotiation but was the just the last one in what seems to be happening more where people offer and then aren't interested in buying at a reasonable price. It just seems I have gotten more fruitless offers than any other time here, and nearly as bad as eBay. The member by no means low balled, this is not what happened on this one. The low-ballers I usually don't respond to and if I do, I don't put my paypal info on those. Sure I didn't take his offer, so there was no obligation on his part. That I agree with and I am in the wrong. I thought since there was very little difference in my counter offer, there wouldn't be an issue. I will end with this, the member is a stand up person and I would be willing to trade with him in the future. I jumped the gun a bit and I would like to apologize to him here for that.

If there was very little difference in the counter offer why did you send it? You wanted a couple extra bucks and almost lost the sale.

Definitely was not my intention. You can call shame all you want but unlike most of the members on here, I admitted my fault. Sorry I’m not the seasoned seller you are. I guess I should put that I won’t hold and won’t respond to low ball offers on my sells post from now on.
