Adding 4 Iron: Crossover or G700?

I'd agree the 410 crossover is going to be the smoothest transition into the I210 set. I currently play the G Crossover and it is one of my current favorite clubs in the bag, I primarily use it for tee shots on long par 3's or short par 4's. I haven't played the G400 Crossover however it does interest me as for some, and sometimes myself even, it can be a little strange to look at the G Crossover with the amount of offset it has. I can't offer much information on the G700

The G700 irons also have a bit stronger lofts. If you are looking for something in the 22-23 degree range, this is the G700 5-iron. The G700 iron will also have the most offset.

With regards to the Crossovers, I'd also say that visually the G400 looks like it has "more help" than the G410. Not sure if this is something you want or not (coming from the i210, you may not want it). For me, I would rather have the G400 Crossover, as it just looks easier to hit. But this is highly dependent on your reference point with other irons. The G410 Crossovers definitely seem geared towards better players whereas I'd say the prior two versions were much more for the hacks (they also had a 5x in these models).

I played the g700 4 iron and the offset is like an inch. If you can get over that, it is beyond easy to hit. I switched to an i500 4 iron cause of the offset and the lefts. Tried the 410 x-over before purchasing the i500. The graphite shaft and swingweight made it feel too different than the rest of the set.

Interesting, maybe it's the deeper profile of the G making an illusion in my eyes then

The G Crossover (black) is a great transition club. In my case it's replaced the G 5 hybrid. At my age and swing speed, I'm not sure a 4 Crossover would work, but that's just me.

Well, that's true. The G400 crossover does sound offensive to some but 200 down the middle it is music to my ears.

To add something else here: I had the Rapture DI then G Crossover. I play currently 5i-6i G700. I've tried the G400 Crossover {tried making it work}.

The G400 is the longest blade length of the bunch, coupled with an offset that makes it seem 5x more than stated. I just struggled hitting anything close to consistent shots.

The Rapture DI is still my favorite of the bunch. I hated looking at it & particularly despise the way it sits behind the ball - but the results speak! If I travel out of the wind, I replace it with a true hybrid though. It has offset & long blade length, but I just don't seem to care or notice ?

The G seems to be a mainstay at that particular loft of 21*. It also spins less than the others IMO- hence my love for hitting this club into 25mph Oklahoma daily wind ? I actually can hit high fades with this club consistently. This one sits behind the ball the best IMO plus it's black.

G700 irons are HUGE, but somehow I don't notice that massive size. I really like this iron-- if you're after high & long stop right here. They are also crazy easy off tight lies to elevate. Just big & massive

I just ordered the 410c, so I can't comment on that just yet. I stuck with the tried & true Tour 85 as well. That is one thing they all have - that Tour hybrid shaft.... Damn it's perfect for me{iRod!}

I had a similar situation with Exotics irons. My Exotics 4i was great off the tee, but iffy off the fairway. The hosel is .370, so I replaced the KBS Tour 90 steel shaft with a SteelFiber HSL 780 hybrid shaft. The shaft is 20 grams lighter, but has a fairly firm tip. I picked up average yardage overall and have a club that's easy to control and launches from fairway much more reliably.

What shafts are you using in the i210? In the Ping line, the AWT 2.0 might be interesting shaft for the 4i. The Ascending Weight Technology shafts get heavier as the club length gets shorter. A somewhat lighter 4i shaft might help you with launch.

I've tried some driving irons similar to the Crossover, and I was luke-warm about them - but that's just me. The only G700 experience is seeing used sets up for resale at golf shops.
