10 Handicap and Up...What irons do you use? Blades, CBs, GIs?

Switched over to Ping i210 (3-PW) with Px LZ coming from 2018 Callaway Apex MB (2-PW), plan on playing less this year because of work and travel.

Was really impressed with the i210 on consistency and feel (cast or forged).

Started playing mid of last year, so my handicap is still pretty high, maybe around 25-30. Got fit into a set of Titleist T200 (4-W), couldn't be happier.

mp 68s, gonna be my second season with them. looking into a shaft change at the moment. they have kbs tour x in them, wanna give the modus 3 shafts a try

I think that's why most people switch up because of the enjoyment of doing it. It's nice to have new equipment. I really think what is the most helpful even beyond the club themselves is taking some lessons and ingraining the learn lessons into your swing.

Bang on. Not mentioned enough. I have played pure Mizzy blades my whole life (65 now) until lately and they have never been my problem; in fact could go to a full set tomorrow no problem. Driving neither. I cannot keep my handicap consistently under 10 because of chipping pure and simple. Been watching Monte video on chipping and have tried it (pretend you are skipping a stone with right hand) and it has shown the most promise for me personally overcoming my big bugaboo. Giving 3,4,5 strokes a round back whether it be putting, chipping, erratic driving etc. has nothing to do with some 10 handicappers or higher using players irons. I started playing before you tube and unfortunately my thrill was only smashing a ball great distances. Took me a long, long time to discover the fun and beauty in honing short game skills. But the nerves that come with old age go south. Wish I could go back :-).

I stopped playing irons that you have to hit perfect to play well. I've gone through a lot of Mizuno irons in the last 30 years. I'm a 12.5 and now play Hot Metals, the 900 originals, with Recoil regular shafts, the ball goes high far and straight. The two shots a round that previously could have been shaped are replaced with a dozen no brainers that I stand there and make a good pass at.

14 hcp. After two league championships over the past three years using Mizuno MP-63’s I’m switching it all up and going with PXG 0211‘s. No more balloons and more yards. Kaboom Baby!

I don't have an official handicap but I know it's above 10. I use some Cleveland VAS 792's, most would say ugly clubs but for some reason I like the look of them. I guess you would call them game improvement irons. All I know is I hit them straight when I dont go after it too hard and the distances are better than what I was gaming, a set of Wilson k 28 blades. I'll probably upgrade again next offseason, maybe even getting some custom built clubs for myself.

Currently have i210's in the bag but just picked up some Honma TW X irons. Most likely will be selling the i210's but we'll see. 13HC for reference.

Purchased the 0311P, but was looking at the T-100s before. Noticed that you had AP2s in your sig, what made you decide to move away from the AP2?

I'm getting old and my swing has regressed to the point that I'm actually hitting up on iron shots lol. Taking lessons but for the time being I needed distance back. AP2's were my favorite iron thus far that I have played.

I like all the reactions my post got. I think if your iron play is bang on and you feel confident with more blades clubs or smaller CB's you should play them. This is the reason I got my p760's when still at hcp 15. Now playing from 8,7.
