what's the verdict? is it an improvement on the previous models?

might grab one today.

did they fix the 'insert popping out' issue?

Best putter I have ever used. Had to get used to it at first coming from the Spider Tour, but results have been excellent.

Very popular on tour. I have the Red Spider Tour mid shaft, so not upgrading. The first putter that I haven't felt like replacing, and my red paint is tough. The X has excellent touch, great putter.

I really liked it. I just find I make more short "touchy" putts with a blade. I think there is a reason many tour/web/mini tour guys use this kind of putter. Many in blades still of course but I think the Spider X is up there with the best mallets.

I was leaving many short and hitting the ground with it while putting. Purchased two 6gram weight and it is so much better. Completely different putter.

Big fan. Came from the Spider Tour Red (JDay, Rahmbo) which I loved but I noticed that my distance control and feel wasn't great on long putts (I know the Red had the softer insert, but I liked the feel of it over the Tour Black). Got my Spider X in May and it's not leaving the bag any time soon. Smaller footprint, seems sturdier, and the 80/20 insert is money.

Long time blade putter. Time for a change. The new optic alignment sight is great. Curious on thoughts of the midnight blue versus the copper color. Definitely need a slant neck with some toe hang. Should have something new and shiny in the bag at lunch tomorrow. Any thing else you would recommend trying out. I usually don’t like insert putter as distance control is so important for me.

Best putter I have used to date. Added 2 (6g) weights and its been lights out for me. Was always a blade user and never really got along with mallets. This one changed it for me.

Lately, I’ve been hovering around 35-36 putts per 18. Can’t get down to my goal of 30 per round. Lost my touch. I had a spontaneous mini putter fitting with my local shop today. Have been missing a lot of short ones, too, and in true WRX fashion, looked for the solution in new equipment. I tested around 10 different putters from every major manufacturer, blade, mallet, exotic designs, for 45 minutes.

I‘m not a TM guy at all. I do not like the look of the Spider X. I can’t pick up a ball with it (seems minor, but my back hurts more and more). I hate the feel of putters with inserts. However. This thing is crazy good! I can’t believe it. I had great distance control on the mat with the Puttout thingy in the shop. Better than with 99% of the other models I tried. Only the X-shaped Odyssey one could compete. A Scotty mallet felt more solid. But there was something about the Spider X.

My guy habded me a demo Spider X in Copper with the Single bend shaft and I played 18 on my home course. I know new stuff works better and this might just be bias and honeymoon etc.

But I had 30 putts and made almost everything inside 2m/6 feet. Really, it was like magic.

I strongly benefit from the high MOI and perimeter weighted head, as I hit heely putts mostly. This thing spits out reliable, repeatable distances all over the face everytime.

I‘m a believer. Think I’ll go with the blue one and the white alignment top.

Haven‘t been surprised by something that much in a long time. Feels like cheating!

What was the main thing you had to get to used to? I love my spider tour but thinking about making the jump for the line. But concerned with distance control as the face seems a lil softer in the X.

I recently bought the Spider Mini on a whim and loved it. So much so that I’m willing to move up to the Spider X (blade user here).

What is this 6g weights upgrade some are mentioning here?

Spider X with a flowneck. None of my Camerons will be seeing the bag anytime soon. Was looking for a new 009 or T2 for months also but at this point more likely to by 10 Spider X before I buy one of those.

Will echo many of the thoughts expressed above and far and away best putter I have ever used as well. I played Newport/Newport 2s for 20 years and then tried the Dustin Johnson Black Spider before moving to the X. I liked the Black Spider a lot but the X has been better in every regard for me. Weight, Feel, looks etc. Mine might need to be pried from my cold dead hands at this rate and I can't see myself switching to anything besides a future version.

 

My cameron collection is gathering dust for sure.

Has anyone painted the line on the putter? I would like to make mine from a long sight line to short. I have a navy with the white true path. I just need to find some paint to match the white part of the putter.
