well..the new ball is out in the wild.. picked up a couple boxes (1 for my home range and 1 for the course) at my local pro shop this am.... cant wait for the ground to dry so I can play them on course...

Well supposedly yes he is listed as playing the new ball. But you never know if it is yet another prototype version made for Phil.

Callaway had 2 prototype out there. One has the double dot which is the NEW CS that is suppose to help alleviate the dread hot shot some of the pros were complaining about. 4pc construction. The other ball has a STAR on it. It's a SOFTER VERSION that spins a hell of a lot more. But Callaway isn't going to market with it after testing. They also added a TRUVIS to the SS line. Good updates to a very impressive ball line up.

No, the * (or X) is a firmer cover version of the retail ball. Callaway at one time thought about bringing both to retail but then pulled the plug on the X.

That's interesting, as the prototype I have has 2 stars after the soft, not one as the ball above does.

These have been out for a couple of weeks here. The box is easily identified with the stamp "New & Improved" in the upper left hand corner. Tried a sleeve. Much like the originals, I didn't like them. Didn't see much difference in this new 4 piece than the original 3 piece, but that could be my swing not getting the most out of these. They felt soft off the driver in the winter temps, which was good. But, I ran into the same issues I had with the orginals: the feel is too muted off the irons for my tastes and the feeling is weird off the putter. Gave the other 3 sleeves to a kid at the range.

Check your box, if it doesn't say Dual SoftCore it's the old version. All the old version packaging has New in the top left hand corner.

Yep. They had 2016 on mine. You can also flip the box over and see that the new version talks about the 4 piece construction.

I was exchanging a box of Truvis I got for Christmas today at Dick's and all they had was the 2015 ball. Swapped for yellow. Preordered the yellow 2016 truvis that is suppose to ship on the 5th.

I am really excited about trying the new CS. The original CS was an amazing ball. Loved how it performed off my irons and zero issues with the driver or wedges. I roll a milled putter and this ball works so well with it. Its tough to use another ball after you play it.

the CS is awesome to putt with. I hope the 2016 plays closer to th i(z) with the rest of the clubs.

Got to play the ball today, awesome, just plain awesome. A little more firm feel off the driver. Stops great on the green with all irons. The same awesome feel in the short game dept. and still great feel off the putter.

Got mine in on Friday played Saturday and loved it, no more distance issue off the driver and great around the greens. Durable, one ball the whole round and looks like new.

I have been playing the original CS since it came out (I actually got a box from the Callaway rep at the Sony Open In Jan 2015) and I have not changed, I have played my best golf with these, I cannot wait to give the new ones a try...

I received a couple of the sample packs of the new ball with two dots and had a chance to play them yesterday. I loved the original Chrome Soft with every club but the driver, as it seemed I lost some distance. I did find it was a great ball to play in colder conditions.

 

So while I don't think the new ball has quite the same ultra soft feel as the old one, I did find it to be very good off the driver and I def did not lose any distance. In fact, I think this ball is pretty long off the tee as I hit some tee shots into some places that usually require roll to get to but as wet as the FW's are, there was no roll yesterday. Spin on full shots is as you'd expect, Ball had plenty of bite with mid irons and with the wedges they spun and stopped without backing up excessively. I hit a couple of pitch shots which required me to carry a bunker and have it check quickly, which it did quite nicely on the 2nd bounce. Durability was excellent as it showed no sign of damage unless you hit a cart path, which I did a couple times. All in all I was impressed with this ball so far and will certainly give it another try.
