I took about 35 swings at the local shop today with the i25. Hit with a couple different shafts and will be staying with the 20s. Don't get me wrong the 25s were nice and I had no interest in switching before hand, but they were pretty similar.

It really comes down to price and whether you need the latest and greatest.

Haven't hit them outside, but have hit them both extensively inside with the same shafts. No difference in numbers at all and I actually prefer the feel of the i20's over the i25's.

As someone else said, they're pretty much identical in feel and performance indoors. Haven't had a chance to hit them outdoors (and probably won't) to see if there's a turf interaction diff, but I doubt it.

I hit both last week and was surprised by the LM numbers. The 25's were consistently 7-8 yards shorter than the 20's with several different shafts. The spin with the 20's was also approx. 2000 rpms less. The LM was a Foresight at Golfsmith and the numbers were very close to my actual yardages. I went in wanting to love the 25's but wound up ordering S55's.

Also feel that I've lost distance dispite having exact same setup as my i20. Anyone else experience this?

I don't think it would be so bad even if the I25's were a bit shorter than the I20's. They were a little bit long for sure. I'm still excited about mine. One more weak left. Comeon mr mail man.

I think you made a very wise choice gooing with S55s. IMO they are a standout and are head and shoulders above the so called players i series, which to me look SGI.

If you want a better upgrade try the callaway apex irons they are awesome!

They may be awesome for you but they are not a "better upgrade". Actually, there is no such thing.

Here is the way I see this.

For us 5 to 15 handicap players, there are several good choices in irons: AP2, Ping i20, Ping i25, Callaway Apex, AP1. The i25's are a small improvement over the i20's -which is fine because the i20's are a great iron for the segment that needs them, and are played on Tour, and played by a whole lot of players on the LPGA Tour. The Apex also seem to fit in between the AP2 and AP1; I don't have enough experience with them, but I will by the end of the summer.

The AP1's are the standard that I use to assess these irons: not quite as pretty as the others, but great every-day consistent performers.

Played i20s and i25s, they are similar but have found the following differences. The i20s seemed springier off the face which felt good however the i25s feel slightly softer when struck well. The ball also seems to launch slightly higher with the new i25s which has given a slight increase in distance for me. The i25s sound a little louder than the i20s did but it gives more confidence of a better strike if that makes sense. Personally I prefer the look of the new i25s but the i20s still look great. In regards to forgiveness I found the longer irons fractionally easier to hit vs i20 longer irons but the shorter irons are virtually the same forgiveness as the i20s. The i25 PW seems better too more like part of my dedicated wedge set than the rest of the i25s. The head shape is similar to clevelands 588 design. Overall I prefer the i25s and can definitely see, feel and hear a difference between the two sets. Its definitely worth hitting both though especially now the i20s will be even cheaper in 2014.

I hit the i20s, i25s and the S55s - I really wanted to walk out with the S55s but I just don't generate enough spin with them, irrespective of what shaft I put in them. The i25s came out with the best spin and launch numbers and were stupid easy to hit. i20s were similar but the i25s just felt better.

Ended up ordering the i25s.

My buddy plays i20s so I get to do this comparison on a weekly basis since I play i25s. There is no difference imo in turf interaction, but the i25's do feel a little bit softer.

The most noticeable difference for me is the mid iron performance; the 5 and 6 iron in the i25's may have slightly more help built in the clubs. Either way both are fantastic irons and I would recommend playing the entire set 4-LW.
