I live in Florida - have for about 40 years. And yes we have golf all year long. But there are some trade offs.

We don't have seasons. I actually went swimming this past Christmas.

I live in Chicago. I could probably print out the above comments, show them to all my neighbors and at least half of them will want to buy a plane ticket to fly to Florida just to track you down and punch you in the face.

swimming on Christmas? Oh you poor baby.

Lived full time in Chicago for 20 yrs and lived in Ohio before that (born there and lived there thru college @ OSU).
Met my wife in Chicago and her parents owned a place on the beach in Hilton Head Island SC. We vacationed there for many years and finally one year we started looking at property ourselves. Ended up building a house about 10 yrs ago and have slowly transitioned from Chicago to SC. I'm a General Contractor so I had to start my business from scratch all over again, but it has worked out great (a lot of work in this area). Wife kept her Chicago job and works out of the house now and flies back about once a quarter. We still have a place in Chicago but went from living there 9-10 months out of the year to 6 months, to finally living in SC about 10-11 months out of the year.
Don't miss the snow at all and we have some terrific golf courses in the Hilton Head area, and yes we play year round.
Actually looking at a possible move to Florida now. Our blood has definitely thinned a bit and 60's here in Dec and Jan are a bit too chilly. LOL

Easy for us to do though................no kids.
The OP has his hands full and needs to do what's best for the family............not what's best for his golf game.
Just my opinion anyway.

Moved from Rhode Island to Myrtle Beach about 7 years ago. Not the "perfect" year round golf climate, but not bad. The wife and I have been very fortunate since moving. There's very very little in terms of businesses aside from tourism and seasonal unemployment is a significant issue. We're lucky to have both found meaningful work and have had opportunities to advance, so it's been a good move overall. Each winter is a constant reminder of how fortunate we've been.

My wife and I did it haha. Moved from Southern VA which was about 7-10 months of golf (depending on if you could stand a little of the colder side) and we moved down to Charleston, SC with our 1 year old (I just turned 25 and she is 22). We needed to get out of the "mild" winter to a place that didn't get cold and had the beach haha. Sucks being 6-7 hrs away from our immediate family but dang it they can come visit us in warmth!

oh and summers aren't that bad geeze. just a little heat. stay hydrated and fueled up with proper nutrition and you barely feel it ;)

Forever Changing at this point.......

I'm a recent college graduate and live in WV. This particular winter has been brutal and I've only been able to play twice since December first. As an avid golfer (played all 4 years at my university) this is killing me. I know a lot of people talk about moving somewhere warm to get away from the cold (myself included,) but have any of you actually done it? I'm seriously considering the move. My logic is that I'm 22 years old with my whole life ahead of me, so I might as well enjoy it (after all you only live once.)

To those who have made the move, how hard was it and do you regret it at all? I think the most difficult thing for me will be missing my family as literally all of them live in the county I grew up in and currently live. We are all a really close knit bunch. I also have a fiance and 8 month old baby girl, so I would obviously have to get her approval and 100% ok, so that may be another challenge. It's a big dream of mine and being able to enjoy life with nice weather year round would be awesome. Input appreciated guys!!!

Run child! RUN!

Get out now, before you pick up some local in laws that will hold you in place like a concrete slab over your casket. Get out now while the getting is good. Seriously DO IT NOW!

Don't even think about going to any local hangouts in case you meet HER Just GTFOa Dogde and don't look back.
