Received my cash cover today. It also had a nice thank you card and and a hand written note apologizing for the delay. I really like that personal touch. That is great customer service. I will definitely be back and would not hesitate to recommend them to a friend.

Mine is about 6 weeks old. I went pretty simple but love it so far. I also have the executive scorecard holder that matches which is also great.

Chris is really bad about returning calls or emails. His work is quality, but he is a poor business person. I would suggest that you do a payment reversal/dispute with paypal and just move on to another company. I finally received my item and it was very nice, it took me calling many times and sending a lot of emails.

I'm in the same boat. I placed an order on June 26th and haven't heard a peep. I tried emailing, Twitter, and now calling (his voicemail inbox is full). I sent another email and let him know that if I did not hear from him by Monday, I'll be disputing it and giving my business to someone else. This is horrible customer service.

Most people tend to only get a response if/when they file a payment dispute. Not a good way of doing business, not a sign of a company you want to have your money.

I wish I would of read this a few weeks ago. I ordered one, they took my PayPal money and now won't answer any emails. How do I do a PayPal dispute?

Not that I want to defend a potential competitor (although I only do scorecard holders at the moment), handmade stuff is time consuming and labor intensive. Getting something turned around in a couple of weeks would be hard for me as I am working on stuff for others at the moment so an order coming in now would have to get in line. Fortunately for me I have few enough orders that I can communicate effectively.

I would just be patient. You will be getting a handmade item that you will probably have forever so a 8 week wait or so might be worth it.

I think the frustration that most people have had with Chris at Appalachian Leather Works is the very poor communication and in some cases no communication.

I can not speak about the "service" as I was was given a cash holder cover as a gift, but I can attest to the quality which is top notch. Hopefully ALW can get the service side of the business to match their beautiful products.

File a PayPal complaint, that usually gets responses based on what people have mentioned previously. About the only way to hear back from them it seems.

That's just not right, an 8 week wait? Making excuses for not making sure you get your work done in a timely manner is lame. Hand made is no excuse either. Quality work and quality business practices go hand in hand.

This company is doomed to fail, doesn't matter how good the quality is....there are other company's that make as good of product and have real business acumen. Too bad. Pretty disappointed at this point.

Just filed a PayPal dispute, pretty pissed off at this point. Just ordered through Sunfish and great experience and received my order in a few days, quality product and great customer service. Do not buy anything from Chris!!

well, i didn't see this thread. wish i had. i placed an order for something simple -- one (3) pack of o-rings. that was April 17th.

 

no emails, no returned phone calls, nothing. i should've seen this thread and would've taken my (albeit small) business elsewhere.
