I was visiting Byron at his shop in June 2016 when we were fitting my DH89 when I saw a head of the Epic Day sitting around. I asked about it and Byron said it was one of his very last heads he had and that he was retiring the model once these were gone.  I snagged that Epic Day and Byron built that to my specs.  The DH89 and Epic Day have been my only gamers since 2016. The Epic Day has been my primary gamer since September 2016.

I may be being too picky, and it's ultimately personal preference. But, I much prefer the look when there is that pocket on the back of the face.

Took a while but here’s the after. Couldn’t get a copper insert so went carbon to change it up and I added copper to the back on my own. Two strips of lead tape to get the head weight up and an all-in shaft.

 

Shout out to putter spa for cleaning up the head and spryevo for the insert!

The Cleveland Classic 3 was a great Zing style putter.

I putter with a Zing 2 BeCu for many years. For me though, my favorite is the Zing TR.

I'm a big fan of the original Odyssey White Hot #2 (what Stricker uses). I'm just more used to the weight and the insert. I did recently pick up one of the newer Cleveland Huntington Beach Soft #3s. I'm excited to give that a try. Never had much success with a milled putter

I had a 1970 My Day in my bag for at least 15 years, maybe 1986 till 2001. It was from Karsten's 1st batch, 85029 zip. Had a bunch of lead tape on it. Still have it. Man I could get hot with it. I think it's looks behind a ball can't be beat.

The My Day got it's name when Karsten's daughter took one of his prototypes out on the course one day. When she got back to the shop she told her dad, "that putter made my day."

I just saw that the other day. I would be all over it but it's 380g. My Huntington Beach Premier 3 that appears to refuse to leave my bag is 345g. I love the weight of it and the 380g would just be too much of a jump to even bother, which is a shame. I'm a big Sub70 fan but their putters are just too heavy to even experiment with for those of us who prefer a lighter putter head.

Same. 355-365 is perfect. I’d be shocked if they wouldn’t try to create a version for you though. I’d also like something with a sight dot.

It is a curious thing because all their putters are heavy. I've read that they believe a heavy putter makes smoother strokes which is perfectly fine, but more often than not players that want a blade style putter also want it in lighter weight. If they want a heavier weighted blade putter then they'd probably go double wide, or anything with a larger head.

 

It's like creating a tour inspired muscle back iron but making it the size of a super game improvement iron.

Over the last 5 years, I’ve had great luck with my 2018-ish SC Laguna (the one with the flow neck).  I’m sure some will complain that it’s an “insert” putter but this model really works well for me.  I play mine at 33.5” with the stock 20g weights for a 360g head weight.
