Nice review! Way out of my league!! But, I like the thought process and how you knew what what was good and what wasn't. Well done, thank you.

Great review. It should be hard for anyone to pick holes in it, but I'm sure someone on here will try.

I have this shaft and like it a lot, but was having issues that may have been related to the head. When I got on flightscope with my clubfitter/builder he saw some issues with the tip of the shaft on impact that implied instability issue. Interesting that I can make the tip of the shaft, or adaptor creak when I bend down to put a tee in the ground. I wonder if there is a crack in the shaft tip that would explain both of these thoughts. When I put a different shaft in the head, it didn't make that creaking noise.

It's funny that you mention creaking! I had that for the first day, and then I decided to reset it, and the creaking went away! I don't think it's a shaft issue as much as possibility if a little bit of air, or a bubble gets in there. More of a building thing, I think. Or at least, that's what I'm blaming my early creak on!

Excellent review!!! I haven't done a complete review like you did here but have posted in a few threads about my experience with the new Elements Chrome shaft. Little background I was playing pretty exclusively Matrix shafts in my woods. Had an F6M2 in my 913 D3 and 8M2 in my 913FD 3 wood. I was pretty much beaten down to try the SLDR driver by my club builder, whom I have going to for many years, and he told me even before I got there that he thought the Chrome would be a great fit for me. We tried every shaft under the sun, the new Diamana, ATX Tour Green, Veylix Rome and list goes on and on. None of them gave me better numbers than the Chrome.

I agree with you on all points about the feel, but thing is for me I like the feel of a little heavier shaft. After playing with it for a couple of months, it is such a great performing shaft. The feel, stability and consistency are amazing. So much so that last week I put the Chrome in a SLDR 3 wood and it has flat out performed my 913FD with 8M2 shaft.

For those of you who haven't had the opportunity to hit this shaft, I would highly recommend that you do. You will not be disappointed. UST hit a homerun with this shaft and it is my new favorite. My scores show it, dropped 2 strokes off the handicap. I am just that much more consistent off the tee and it is all due to the confidence I have in my long game. Putting good hasnt hurt either but more birdie putts equal lower scores.

Glad you are loving this shaft as much as I am and keep shooting those low scores!

Great writeup!

I've had the Chrome in my driver for almost a month now, and it really is the best of all worlds. I have not hit it on Trackman, but with my SLDR there have been some pretty obvious mishits that still had the ball speed to be decent. I couldn't care less about spin and launch angle at this point- the ball flight looks exactly where I want it.

That's great to hear! How's the feedback on the fairway wood?...

Interesting. I haven't pursued figuring it out yet, as I got a Veylix Alpina shaft which I really like as well. I need to figure it out, as it makes me doubt the stability of the shaft tip, along with the Flightscope info. that showed the tip to not be reacting properly at impact.

I will know soon, get the build back tomorrow.

The previous (good shaft) in that head was a VTS SIlver 85, and the Chrome is getting the same tipping that that one had. Should be very good with a slightly lower launch and hopefully, maybe better ballspeed.

Indeed. I had another good round of driving.

Losing a few left now and then, but my swing is improving and I'm not hitting nasty blocks anymore.

Good post and pics, thanks for sharing.
Just a curiosity question. Looks like you have found 60-S tipped 1" to be for you, in your first post you mention being a little wide on dispersion with former shaft and being able to get to 115mph, did you ever try a heavier weight ( say 70g ) or going to a X-flex.......if so, what were the results?

Great question! It was actually just happen-stance. I found a great deal on a few S flex shafts, and started experimenting with tipping. I then realized I was loading the shafts better, after having many fitters tell me that many people use shafts that are too stiff.

I've tried my fair share of 70+ gram shafts, and frankly, I'm a pretty good driver of the ball, and have high standards, so when I say lacking dispersion, tight, is TIGHT. I need the yardage on most accounts, so I stick with 60g range.

Played X flexes all through college, and could handle them then, now, my focus from the tee is much more about accuracy and control, so I just do go at it as hard. Now, if I played an X, it would feel nice, but I'd lose a little yardage.

Well written review, thanks for that! Have used UST products for years and currently testing an Elements Chrome myself- as evidenced by my signature, a potential change has to provide significant performance increase in order to earn a place in my bag. So far, I am duly impressed with the Elements Chrome and look forward to seeing after further testing if it wins spot in the set-up.
