Mizuno JPX 850 Driver, Fairway, & hybrid info

Did I mis-read or is the JPX850 iron non-conforming?

Yes, the boron one is conforming but the other one is not. I don't think amateurs are going to mind since they don't play in high level tournaments. I think they are shooting for the more 15+ cap

TONS of players who would game these will now otherwise not game them solely because they are non-conforming. Huge blunder by Mizuno here IMHO

I think y'all are missing the point. If you don't play professional golf, then you don't need conforming clubs. Why wouldn't you want to make the game more fun? I think you are missing the big picture here...

Mizuno hit a home run here because they are catering to the other 99% of golfers who do not care. They just want to play golf, they don't care if the club isno conforming. No one is going to bash them for it.

It's a game, games are meant to be fun. So let it be! Mizuno did the right thing here, they are marketing geniuses.

I thought the article said the irons exceeded the limits set by the USGA for "drivers". Is there a limit for irons?

Agreed! I think Mizuno isn't the last major OEM to market non conforming equipment and I say good on them for leading the way.

Correct. The statement was made as an example of ball speed generated by their new irons and flexibility of the face compared to the conforming limit put on drivers.

Every new post I see makes me wish I had held off for the 850s instead of getting the 825s.
Don't get me wrong... I'm super happy with the 850s. Hitting them better than anything I've ever had in my hands, but... I'd have loved a set of 850 forged in LH, and even would have considered the rest of the set.

Even if they were non-conforming, it wouldn't negatively affect sales because the players buying this type of game-improvement iron isn't in any danger of joining the tour any time soon. Why would it then matter if they are conforming or not? These irons are marketed to the 99.999% of the people who buy golf clubs who are not members of the golfwrx forum.

Many members of this forum lose sight of how many people buy clubs but aren't members of this forum.
