Mizuno JPX 850 Driver, Fairway, & hybrid info

So here is my question. The JPX series is supposed to be for those needing forgiveness correct? We all know that bigger the head in drivers the more forgiveness (or at least I thought that was why they are making them bigger haha), but the new driver is only 440. Same size as some OEMs players/tour models. Is the new driver supposed to be more for a player than say the EZ or is it still ultra forgiving?

Forever Changing at this point.......

I demo'ed the JPX850 driver and 3 wood last week. Love the looks of the driver and the shape is very pretty as well. The size doesn't look so large at address like some of the competitors. I've always been a fan of Mizuno blue as well so I like the paint job on the head. The moveable weights definitely worked on the trackman as well to get the ball doing what the rep said it would. The sound seemed a bit more muted than the last JPX too.

The 3 wood on first glance appeared a bit shallow in the face for my taste but the overall shape was very nice.

Would love to give these a spin on the golf course when they're released.

My shop told me they would have everything (irons, woods, and hybrids) in September. However, according to the info on this site, it looks like February. I would love to know the real date.

Can anyone confirm the stock driver shaft? I have heard the fujikura motore VC 6.3. I only see a tour spec version of this shaft. Is this what it will be?

Mizuno Europe website says 2014 Fujikura Orochi

As I read about these, I'm quite interested in trying them out. Especially since these will be available in LH models as well.

Does anyone know what the lofts will be in the driver, fairways, and hybrids (left handed) ?
[/quote]STD Lofts on both RH and LH will be 9.5 Driver and can be adjusted from 7.5-11.5 with a few other Upright options town in. IE 9.5U setting. The 3 wood starts out with a std loft of 15 and can be adjusted from 13-16°. The 5W starts out at 18° and can be adjusted from 16°-19°. Lastly the 21° fairway will not be offered LH.

anyone know the weight of the stock shaft or if light shafts will be available

I called Mizuno and asked about the shaft. They told me it is a fujikura motore driver shaft. The weight on the stiff is 65g. The x stiff is 69g. The specs are the exact same as the VC 6.3 tour spec.

That is what Mizuno told me. And it is the ONLY shaft option for the driver.

Our local shop said they have shipped and expect them (drivers was all they said) September 12. I don't know if I trust them to know except there was a Mizuno exec. there a couple of days ago, so hopefully he would know.. But in 4 days we will know. The shape reminds me of the old 300S.. One loft 9.5 ( plus and minus 2 degrees)...with 10 increments a mix of neutral, fade, draw along with 2, 8 gram weights..

Larger equating to more forgiving is not always true. The JPX EZ driver was a 450 head and it was extremely forgiving. Not very far at all from the G25 level of forgiveness in my opinion.

I can also confirm that the specs of the shaft match the TS 6.3. Stiff being 67 grams with X-Stiff being 69 grams...both 3.4 torque. In the catalog is labels the Stiff as Mid-High launch and the other Mid launch. Forget the exact specs for the fairways, but I recall the X-Stiff option still being in the high 60 gram range as well. My H5s are on the truck and arrive tomorrow. The guys at the shop seem to think they'll be getting the hybrids much sooner than the driver and fairways.

I hit the 850 driver and fairway the other day. I was very impressed with the look and feel of the driver. The tour spec shaft is the real deal. I am not so sure on the fairway wood shafts as they have higher torque ratings and didn't feel as tight as the driver shaft. I really like the driver and the movable weights do what they claim. I don't have a launch monitor, but I was hitting into a pretty strong wind and sliding the center weight back and forth did make a difference on spin. I didn't care for the looks and performance of the 3 wood as much. It just didn't look right to my eye. I will have to give the driver a go when it is released. All in all a pretty solid offering form Mizuno.

So the driver you hit had the motore VC 6.3 tour spec shaft in it? Did you ask if this was going to be the stock shaft for sure or are they going to have a" made for" version when they release them? I'm ready to pre order this driver on looks alone but I really want to confirm the shaft that will be in it before I drop the cash.

Here in Australia one of the golf retailer websites is saying that the JPX 850 driver will be shipping from the 1st of October, so I couldn't see the US or UK being any later than that.

Also, speaking to a Mizuno rep here in Australia, he said the US market was going to receive the Speeder shaft as the stock offering. In Australia the Orochi is the stock shaft, with the Speeder being a $20- upcharge.

We'll see I guess on the stock shaft.Mizuno has always put their shaft(made for) & never a real deal stock shaft.I hope so, because I really want the 850 driver!

The driver shaft is the real deal, the specs are the same as on the Fuji website. 3 wood, not so sure. The specs on that are way different. It is the stock shaft and only shaft that will be offered.

Driver (The stiff and x are the real deal, not sure about the regular and A flexes as they aren't listed on Fuji's site)
X 69g 3.4 torque
S 67g 3.4 torque
R 64g 3.4 torque
A 55g 5.1 torque

3 Wood (These appear to be made for as the torque ratings are quite high)
X 71g 4.4 torque
S 67g 4.5 torque
R 64g 4.6 torque
A 62g 4.6 torque

I loved the mp630 fast track & it was 445cc.I'm not sure why I got rid of it, but it was very forgiving & I got tons of roll.I'll definitely be looking for the 850 when it comes out.
