Could not agree more. It was a similar move, in my opinion, when a couple years ago Mizuno introduced the MP-59. Mizuno had a history of heinous short irons, usually starting in the 8 (much like Miura), as if they couldn't figure out how to "blend" the short irons seamlessly into the wedges. The 59s were a departure from that, and hopefully Miura has figured it out.

As son as I seen these pics I thought of the 2003/4 TM Rac cb's with the T stamp I had. One of the hardest to hit cb's I ever played, but that was back when I was a 10-12 handicap. I wish I had them when I was playing as 1.3 GHIN then I could have seen how nice those irons played.

these babies would be almost the same mold TM Miuras

Richard, thanks for sharing all those pics.. SWEET looking irons.

This was the first thing i thought of!!!!

At first glance at the Miura PW, I wondered if they had struck a deal with Wilson Golf.

The *w* looks surprisingly close to Wilson's.

On a side note, I compared them to Ping S58 instead, b/c of the insert in the S55.

Gorgeous set, those Miura 1957's, gorgeous indeed. Thanks for sharing.

I like perimiter weight cavity backs, such as the Ping S series.
I do not understand the concept of the Miura 1957 design.

Ahhhh your right. Thats why I like them so much... :pimp::pimp::pimp::pimp::pimp:

Here are pics of the 3 iron of the box toe and the 4 iron of the 1957. I bet if they were the same # they would overlap in looks.

I think you can get these now or this week. The press release said these are limited editions and are $$$$ mucho dinero at $275 per club shafted... $1,975 for 4-PW.

I spent some time at the range today with these. Makes a man want to play more golf. On the tee at 8:20 in the morning. Nite :)

Does indeed look like the original TM RAC irons... All the RACS that had coin forged on the hosel were done by Miura for Taylor Made... Just hauling out some of the old designs I guess (and modernizing them a bit).. Maybe they will reissue the nice Pro cavity back they did for MacGregor years ago.

Coin forged were not done by Miura.
Yes they were. The RAC coin forged cb's had a few runs and this was the last from memory that Miura did for TMag. There was even a piece that the golf channel did with Adam Barr where he went to Japan to visit Miura and you could see the TMag heads in process there.

Some think that the next model from TMag the 2005 RAC cb were miura forged but they were not. I know that as fact. We see them listed all the time on EBAy. So many people think they were but indeed that were not.
From what I know, there were the coin forged and then the Miura forged. I had several 04 RAC CBs and were Miura forged. The telling way of knowing they were Miura forged was the absence of Coin Forged on the hosel.

Absolutely a fantastic post! Perhaps not the design, but makes me want the S55's even more!
While I'm Miura all the way. This does speak volumes about the credibility of the s55's. I've been through them all, and s55's are the best on the market in terms of major OEM. If it were not for the 57's, I would of went back to the s55's.

Those are great looking irons...obviously very similar to the Miura Forged Racs and that is a GOOD thing.

Nothing wrong with refreshing a legend.

Great comparison pics. Based on the pictures and your expertise, they are very similar to the s55. Do they play very similar as well or just the looks? Turf interaction ( I know ping has higher bounce), workability, forgiveness etc?
I only say they are close to the S55's because of the shape and size. The sole width are close but the Pings have more bounce.

The Miura 1957's are solid. I just finished 18 and the bounce and sole interaction with the turf was perfect. The heads seem to avoid some of the noise that I can feel with either wider soles or more bounce in the soles. I am enjoying these so far.

Thanks for the quick response, would you say the Miuras would be suitable for a digger?

These Miuras would be suitable for a digger? yes. They are player cb though and they require a fairly consistent swing. Lets compare this chassis to the Ping lineup. These are Ping's S55's for example. They are not the i25's or the G-30 irons. These are the player type heads. For Titleist these would be the Forged cb's and NOT the AP-2's.

They should have named them the "Japanese RAC Forged" irons because man do they strike an amazing resemblance. Absolutely beautiful clubs and great pics. I know you have to be excited about them. Pretty close to a perfect iron right there!
