I've just bought this Rossa Daytona (seller's pics). Spent an age trying to find out exactly what model it was, given that it didn't fit in with any of the retail offerings.

 

Turns out that the seller got it off a tour pro, so question answered, I guess!

 

That is awesome!!! It's like the 2008 Kia Ma but not in black. Nice find! I would game it! Very rare grip too. Very cool.

Agree and will add this, carbon steel material. Unique with the chrome bottom. Very cool. The grip is pretty real. Released in Japan in multiple colors. A few make it over here. Good stuff thanks for sharing!!

That is a good looking Tour Issue Spider Blade. You are right to point out the chrome plate and it also has the 80/20 insert. Still my favorite of the recent inserts. Thanks for the link!!

I managed to get a little bit more info from the seller...it came from a former touring pro who was a regular on the Seniors tour in Australia and Japan. It was given to him by TM during a seniors tournament in Japan, which would explain the grip.

 

It'll certainly be a gamer - was looking for a milled Anser style to use and of a few different offerings, this was the pick. :) Should arrive on Wed or Thur.

Welcome to the club! I've got pictures of my all white head and black shaft version of this putter earlier in the thread. Love it.

 

One slight clarification on Day. Many people are under the impression he gamed a white Spider S slant, but the white putter he used in 2013, late 2014 and early 2015 (including the Farmers win) was actually the same style head as the famous black proto: a modified Japan release Itsy Bitsy. As with the black proto, the white one had a slant neck added and the sightline was welded over and sanded flat, but it used a different insert. The white IB had a standard surlyn Pure Roll insert (which was stock in the Japan IB), but the black proto uses a 80/20 Pure Roll insert which has a firmer feel due to some aluminum being mixed in with the surlyn.

So has the Black Tour Putter I have ever been released to retail since I can not find too much info on it.

 

Day's black Itsy Bitsy was only made available to the public through the limited run of 20 on the Vault. You may have already seen these links, but this is probably the best information on them: the Vault page and the "making of" video.

I had to ditch the ghosting, it's amazing how the milling feels without the polymer.

Now I need to decide if I will paint fill or not.

Gorgeous! And it does look to be a long neck which would make it at least close to face balanced. Love those red Rossa grips. Those are rare also. Very nice. Thanks for posting.

That's a tough decision. I went with just a little paint fill. I could see leaving it raw.

Looks great! Black paint fill on the alignment line and in the Rossa script would look nice!

Did you sand blast it or have some one do it for you?

I had a powder coating shop PLASTiC bead blast it, I told him I wanted glass but he said if i wanted the original SS finish glass would change the texture of the SS.

 

Finished the paint-fill, I love it. Go Silver & Black!! I hope i can putt with it.

Objective evidence that polymer on the face affects feel.

Thx gentleman, paint-filling requires a bit of experience and patience, both of which I have very little, LOL. I originally used my wife/daughters finger nail polish remover which must be weak, all it did was spread the paint around, I was seriously freaked out, the back script was a mess. I then moved on to Jasco paint remover lightly applied to a paper towel and that stuff did the trick. Very tedious work,

 

Please let me rephrase, I have not rolled the putter on the grass yet, face feel was to the touch. I will never know raw vs polymer feel difference. The milling definitely feels more pronounced raw, which seems to be the reason for a milled putter to have deeper/more milling, you would know better though TP, I just wasn't a fan of the ghosting.

Actually, I'm not sure the pre-existing white finish was even polymer if it came from TM. But even paint would likely make the face milling feel different to the touch as it has some thickness and will tend to round off the milling edges.

Anybody got any info on the new/second Spider putter in Jason Day's bag this week? it is in the WITB photos from Pebble, very sleek, OS on the bottom, just curious where that came from and what the plan might be for a new style coming to market? Pretty cool looking, Classic IB Spider updated for 2016.

The bottom of the right putter obviously is is a OS CB (counter balanced) similar design though.

No, it is from Greg's pictures when the Spider OS was first spotted. But it does gives you a good idea how extensive the modifications are.
