Honestly... For me it is personal insecurity. I read a similar thread some time ago and did start to post more. But I have gotten the idea that most of what I have to say is not very interesting for most. My knowledge level, playing level and most of all distance level is nothing compared to the standard her at wrx. This year I shot HIO, my best round ever (76) and got into single digit. Improvement that I attribute a lot to the knowledge that posters have been kind enough to share here. But I just can't help thinking why anyone "overthere" would care.

Please do not read this as me criticizing anyone here. That is not my intend merely a sense of reality. Maybe it is due to me living in a different country but I find it difficult to display my sense of humor because I think it would be offensive to many Americans.

I hang out most in the instruction forum and in there it is very difficult to explain some of my thoughts about technique. I tried many times but before I get my thoughts translated into English threads are usually long gone and dead.

I can assure you that the free stuff never was my reason for joining this site. First of I don't think anyone from outside US ever will win. Besides I had lurked in here for more than 2 years before I realized what "giveaways" meant.

Again no critique meant. I read in here every day. The knowledge is fantastic and I really enjoy reading about the everyday concerns of golfers in America. In many aspects it is very different than what I am used to here.
You Sir, are the type of Gentleman that this forum is built on and exactly like these Gentlemen posting around me in this thread, ie, DeNinny, Conrad, DP, BIG STU, Pigems and so many others. Light hearted ribbing might occur with them though they all walk the walk regarding carrying themselves with class.

You are obviously cut from the same cloth :)

Hell, I posted in a thread last week that was from 2011, and though someone had posted recently in the thread, I congratulated the OP for his first sub 80 round and put all these stupid icons in it, and for all I know, the guy's dead or left the board ;)

And noine said a word, LMAO.

If you have a question that is discussed in an older thread, bring it back out front, that's what they're there for.

And for Heaven's sake, start to post as time permits, there can never be enough Gentlemen like you either in this Game or on this Board :)

Stay Well My Friend :)

Golfingly Yours,
Richard

Richard. That really got to me… Thanks man.
And my best wishes for you… (My version of prayers for you)

For those "thinking" about posting a little more, I join Richard and others in encouraging it. All it takes is to have a voice that is more interested in caring and sharing than wearing battle gear and trying to impress. This is less about your personal moral compass and more about the voice by which you express it.

There is a 99.99% certainty you love golf or you wouldn't have signed up in the first place. Think of this as a long hallway with lots of rooms on either side. Some rooms are filled with discussions about swing mechanics, others about equipment, etc. Some are just folks chatting in general. But as you roam up and down the hallway you will hear their "voices".

There is a soul behind every voice, Sincere and genuine souls are always are the biggest voices while the "troll" is always the smallest voice despite their every attempt to sound otherwise to our ears. Bring that much of yourself, and the rest will take care of itself. You even get mulligans on this board, too. I've been granted many. I'm not proud of my every post. But more than that, I'm not one bit ashamed of my WRX friends. The scales tip so much more in that direction!

It seems like putting is one of those highly individual things where "to each his own" is granted. Golf requires commitment and passion. We put on the blinders to the hazards and things we don't like to consider - We block them out of our consciousness and even outright reject them. Just remember which voice is the biggest one - not necessarily the loudest one. A little "to each his own" goes a LONG way here, be it putting, equipment, the swing, or just plain posting in general.

There are many (as in MANY) deeply kind souls on WRX. Pop into one of those rooms, pull up a seat next to one and strike up a conversation when you hear "that" voice. You will find they bend over backward to treat you kindly, respectfully, and even offer you a mulligan here and there if you need one. You don't have to share another poster's belief system about one darned thing. You don't have to have the last word. Others see right through all that anyway! LOL.

Its also helps to always remember who is on the other side of post buttons. Every walk of life, profession, age, and more than a few who are facing challenges we can't appreciate are out there. We owe it to each other and those facing challenges in golf or even in their life to try and make this place something a little special for them. It takes a certain amount of courage for some folks to screw up their courage and post. When they do, they need to know good souls are out there in WRX-land. The pot will be stirred - sometimes to a boil - but the good souls rarely heat up and when they do - its usually in the defense of others. Life is too short. Golf - and WRX is too much fun to graffiti the place up selfishly. Those who enter looking for that "voice" need to know they will absolutely find it here.

I'll end this by (again) thanking Richard for his original post. He has already said all this more meaningfully than I can. Why and how? His gigantic voice. His soul.

From where I sit, this post should be emailed to every new member...and maybe some that have been on here a while. I have become more involved here (posting wise) lately...and both my golf, and honestly spirit are the better for it. There are some seriously amazing people on this board...

About 20 years ago, I was going through a rough spot and my sister said something to me that it look a while for me to "get". She said, that it is only at the end of the day, that such a small person can cast a long shadow.

This very much applies to the less than positive situations and people I have encountered on here. In my own experience, meeting conflict with reason usually does the trick.

I appreciate you and what you said. Incredible post...
