I just assumed all the non-posters/super low posters are here to either:
win stuff
- or -
they use WRX like a wiki and it is easier to be a logged in user than not.

We can win stuff? Tell me more!

I know right? Whoulda thunk it ;)
Seriously go check out any contest thread and see how many of the first 50 users you recognize.
I hadn't thought of that. leads to new query.....how many of the contest members are frequent posters? although, that is certainly no pre-requisite. Would boil down to who has the strongest "mojo".

I know I'm a fairly new member but I've been lurking in the shadows for a few years. I personally don't post much because I can't sign into this site with the android app and it also doesn't work with tapatalk, for some reason it just won't sign in. I rarely use the computer hints the very low post count. I'm always reading threads with the tapa talk app but unfortunately I can't post and it's a Hassel to open the web page on my phone and post like I'm doing now. I'd love to be able to post via the wrx app or tapatalk app but I am unable to sign in unfortunately. I'm sure this counts for a small percentage of people with a low post count, it's an been an issue for a long time but never been fixed for android devices that I'm aware of.

Full disclosure. I am a contest winner (SLDR) but it was different than the others, there was a min post requirement and it was one where they opened the lines so to speak, and you had a limited window in which to try and get in. Funnily enough I did. Only contest I had entered to that point, as I'm not the type of user who will get picked for a trip and I don't really care about getting free stuff.

That said, I've now decided to enter contests for clubs and then give them to my local youth golf org if I win.

I think there are probably quite a few who think their writing
skills, etc. aren't very good and don't post.

It's a shame cause we have pretty well banished the grammar
police and most don't care as long as people can figure out
what is being said.

I, for one, like seeing people post for whom English is not
their native language. It shows they want to contribute. And I
only speak English and respect those who are multilingual.

You could consider living in Alabama as being bilingual as long as you can turn off the accent for a few understandable words.... :taunt: Thankfully typing the English language is understandable across the board.

As someone who doesn't post much, but tends to lurk. I'd say I have to agree with with the few people that have said some people just feel like they have little to nothing to contribute. Speaking for myself, that is probably the case. Also it can be quit intimidating to new posters to just jump in with both feet, and begin posting. I will say though I love this web site, the forums and all the people that do post.

To All You Lurkers,

It is your prerogative not to post, but you should never, EVER, think that you don't have anything to contribute.

If you play golf and can follow the rules of conduct, you have something to contribute.
True.....but weren't you a lurker until like six month ago?
Arafel you and your one liners! Always a contribution in my book!

I had a few hundred posts over 7 years. Call me a quasi-lurker (until ~6 months ago).
8.5 years here and I'm still a quasi-lurker. :)

I'm here to win beef jerky!!

But seriously, just yesterday I was feeling guilty about my only two posts being contest entries... I will try to post more. I have thoroughly enjoyed this website and it's about time I started participating.
You should not feel guilty and post just for the heck of it. I post quite a bit and still do not contribute anything. (at least, I am aware of it).

At one point were all new to this site. We all come from different backgrounds, years of experience of golf and in many cases different countries. Everyone has something to offer, even if it's "just" your opinion. We can all learn from each other which is what makes the site so enjoyable.

Please share your thoughts...and humor!

When I worked outdoors and was a member, I would almost never post, no time. Now that I am an office drone I have lots of time to lurk and post and dream about not being an office drone.

Yep, there is that.....I've been told more than once "Dino, you just have tooo much time on your hands". Or others may be a bit more direct and say something like "Get a life".

I was a proverbial "lurker" for a few years when I first started golfing. I liked reading the threads and such but never felt like I had anything to contribute.

Finally made a username and started posting a couple years ago and it's been awesome!

I agree with you. It seems that has been lost on some people. Sometimes there is no right answer or the right answer is dependent on so many variables. I have great conversations with people on this board and we don't always agree, but we don't have the same swing, aren't the same age and don't live one the same state.

Just people everywhere were more civil toward others.

I suspect a lot of folks join to use the search function to find what they wanted to know.
The search function isn't very good on this board. I get better results when I search google and get the WRX threads on top of the search results and anyone can get those results.

Could be, but even just a Google search will turn up related threads that can be viewed without joining. I joined because I had a question, then somehow I got sucked into all kinds of crazy and/or very entertaining conversations and it continues to snowball.

new ,and also mostly a lurker..its a great site for information, but, sometimes the "elitisim" and the "im better than they are" people tend to keep a lot of people from getting involved...a disagreement on here is not what a lot of us came for...I am obsessed with the equipment reviews and the opinion of a lot of the reviewers...they really do a great job

I agree there is too much elitism which is discouraging many readers from posting, but the more members that are constructively engaging and posting, the more apparent an elitist becomes. They are the ones in the thread that look like the fools or trolls, not the guy constructively sharing his thoughts, while following the rules of conduct.

This is one reason I actually stopped lurking and started participating more. I say let's drown out and call out these elitists and trolls. Golfwrx used to not be this bad. It was a sad day when I read easyyy's "Let's be positive" thread. 'Twas a sign of the times. Time to bring the old golfwrx back!

C'mon it's an internet forum. While I enjoy reading the posts of discerning users like yourself, OPB, DP4, CR, F4L, and many others, all things being equal I don't give a toss what anyone here posts or posts in reply to one of my posts*

No one should. Life is way way waaaaaaaaaaaaay too short for that. This place is a golf related diversion for me and I'd hope for everyone else too - with the occasional useful consumer deal or travel tip :)

*OK, there was that one time I cried myself to sleep when I didn't get a 'like' from Kadin for one of my caption this... posts. But me and my therapist worked through it and I'm fine now.
