just out of curiosity, I sometimes wonder why some members never post? Its perfectly okay, just curious. I've seen several who have been members for 5 or 6 years, yet not a single post. Observers, I suppose. One good thing about it, they don't have to be concerned about getting into any disagreements, or unsolicited criticism. I also scan other forums once in awhile and do not post there, or even join for that matter. Mostly, to view a topic of interest, or out of curiosity. (guess I answered my own query - again).

When I worked outdoors and was a member, I would almost never post, no time. Now that I am an office drone I have lots of time to lurk and post and dream about not being an office drone.

Yep, there is that.....I've been told more than once "Dino, you just have tooo much time on your hands". Or others may be a bit more direct and say something like "Get a life".

I was a proverbial "lurker" for a few years when I first started golfing. I liked reading the threads and such but never felt like I had anything to contribute.

Finally made a username and started posting a couple years ago and it's been awesome!

If I remember right, if you join you get rid of some of the ads as well as being able to see the pictures that are in threads. I can see joining (given it's free) for those reasons. I know there are forums that I only post in some of the Off Topic forums at this point and those posts don't count towards post count; not that, that is the case here. I also know that I have some forums that I am just there to learn what I can, and maybe throw in some occasional things here and there if I can.

I don't post much here. I just don't have the knowledge that most of the guys here seem to have so I sit back and soak it in. Plus I have noticed that if you do say something wrong, better duck for cover lol.

oh to be sure...there are a number of "master baiters" here just waiting for a chance to pounce. Lots of talent though. A few have become legends in their own time...or is that legends in their own minds?. Many claim to drive in excess of 300 yards. I even noticed that our "resident World Long Drive champion" achieved that award some 22 years ago with I believe a drive of something around 331 yards, yet according to what I have read on some of the posts, many here have also done so or longer. I really don't follow that much, but it is possible that the newer equipment in recent years have moved the bar up aways.

Yeah I do have some favorite posters that I tend to gravitate toward their threads. Pure's club testing and club porn threads are an excellent example. Plus MtlJeffs journey threads are excellent. But again both of those guys know a crap ton more than I do so I just read. WRX is a great resource even if you just read. Heck I never would have heard of Slicefixer(tried for a year but just could not get it down), Monte(my new obsession) or Iteach(I have 2 online lessons just waiting with him).

all excellent choices for instruction from what I have read. One thing I have noticed is that they are tolerant of other points of views from other visiting/guest instructors and while they may not fully agree, they do not go out of their way to discredit them as has happened on other forums.

I only post if no one has already said what I'm thinking, so I'm not going to repeat it just for the sake of increasing my post count. Most of the time, I'm just hear to read and look at cool golf stuff. Golfwrx is an amazing place and I thank the creators, contributors, and posters for all of the content.

Equipment threads: Why we're all here right? I love looking at the tour pics and the soon to be released stuff. Kid in the candy store here. I want that job. There are some generally knowledgeable posters in the equipment forums, which is interesting to read, and also very helpful once I finally get around to buying new stuff. For example I was given an R11s driver head, so now I'm looking for a shaft to put in it. It's also funny reading the posts saying "I got seven more yards with this shaft and I can work the ball both ways so easily" coming from double digit handicappers.

Note: If you're thinking about buying something and are getting on the wrx to read opinions on it, don't go by handicap go by sample size. If 100 guys on here say a shaft is playing soft to flex, it's not a 100% guarantee the shaft plays soft to flex but yeah it's probably playing soft to flex. If one guy says the SLDR is an awful driver because he couldn't hit it, it only proves that guy can't hit an SLDR.

Tour Talk: OMG BUBBA SUCKS AMIRITE?? There's a bias here because we're only hearing the opinions of those who are making the effort to actually write something. The "follow along" threads during majors are great. I'm talking top 5 great. Specific threads about why Brandel Chamblee is an idiot? I'll read it, but I'm not going to remember it. Yes I want Tiger back, and yes I want him to win '69' majors, but I really just want to watch good golf.

General Golf: Literally anything can end up in here, which is great. Possible responses to these topics range from "haha no way," to "dude relax people are starting to stare." I like getting a glimpse into the lives of my fellow wrxers. Pictures of your driving ranges, stories from the course, I shot (insert score here). Active and passive brags: I hate how we specify the difference. If you bombed one six miles and finally shot par I am genuinely happy for you and will read it. If a guy posts pics of his club faces from hitting dusty crusty range balls and he's all over the sweet spot, also not a brag. He's good. This community is filled with skilled golfers. We all know when someone is being genuine and when someone is just being "that guy." If you say you drive it 300 yards in the air, I'm not going to bat an eye, because I'm too obsessed with my own game anyway.

Academy: Enter at your own risk. Course management threads are always great. As are threads like the one where the guy compared his game to that of a champions tour player. I'll always poke my head in. Swing videos? I'm keeping clear, made that mistake last summer. The guys in these threads are absolutely fine. They are genuinely trying to help and some are actually successful. But it is astronomically difficult to teach golf over the internet.

WITB: Keep em coming.

Final thoughts:

I don't care if you play blades

I don't care if your whole bag matches and I don't care if none of your bag matches

Some of you might genuinely need addiction therapy

That new driver isn't going to help you any score any better but that new driver might make you way more confident which probably will help you shoot better

I don't care if you play by every rule or just drop in the fairway, I'm too concerned about my own game

More pics = better thread

I hate people who buy a new golf club every two weeks (I secretly want your life I'm just jealous)

I hate blade threads and still read all of them 'cause blades
P.S. The only thread I can remember that actually drove me up a wall was someone asking about keeping their clubs looking like museum pieces. Guy, they're golf clubs.

The reason I joined WRX was because every time I googled something about Golf that I wanted to know/learn, all the answers and threads kept being from this "golfwrx" site all the time. After a while I finally I got fed up with not being able to ask a question in a thread, or start my own threads with my own topics. So I joined and it was the best thing that ever could have happened to my golf game. I was a little shy to post at first, but not so much any more lol.

Heck yeah! I have over 3,000 posts and haven't contributed one, single, "NEW" bit of information to WRX lol. I just repeat things I've read on other parts of the site :)

I joined 8 years ago and have just under 1400 posts, most of which have come in the past 3 years or so. I don't think I even visited the site once between December of 2006 and September of 2011. I stopped playing golf between that time. I imagine people may sign up, get bored with forum type banter or may even give up on the game, which could explain why they don't have significant post counts.

When I signed on for the first time in 2011 after being away for nearly 5 years, I refreshed my WITB thread after realizing how much equipment had changed. Then I got hooked and check this site multiple times a day.

I don't post much here. I just don't have the knowledge that most of the guys here seem to have so I sit back and soak it in. Plus I have noticed that if you do say something wrong, better duck for cover lol.

Agreed, but that's the wrong attitude. We all play so we all have something in common. All our experiences are different and everyone can learn. I, for one, love to challenge conventional wisdom and share my thoughts although I may get skewered. Just speak up and let it fly. And, if nothing else, love the Dino avatar For the OP Dinosaur. I know I do. And I've learned a bunch in the past 2.5 months.
