Where is Wobgon? I know he is on the verge of buying a set.

So far I am liking the Gap Wedge. I have been playing an Anser 50* wedge and love it. Very consistent with the long balls. I always liked the way the Ansers feel. The 745 gw is a 51* but the length is almost the same. The feel is so much softer. I use it mainly for full swings but I will start trying some half swings to see how it does.

I keep thinking a combo of 545/745 would be the best for me only because of what I have read. With that said, I hit the 745 4,5,6 irons great. I really don't know why I would change to the combo. Well, other than this site, there really is no reason. I have noticed yesterday that my irons seem to spin a little more than I would like. This is only based on what I thought my eyes were telling me, no data from the monitor. I know this is from my KBS shafts. So far though, they are money and still holding down the number one spot.

I am so conflicted on what to do...I want to try a set of these, but no one around me in SC has them. I feel like they would be good for me since i'm a super digger (you could make a swimming pool after a range session). I have a beat on a set of Z745 w/ TI X100 in them, but not sure if the long irons would play nicely with me. That's where I need the help.

Can anyone compare the long irons you hit (mainly 4 and 5) to another set like the S55 or AP2?

I got a combo set 545/745 because I needed the added forgiveness in my longer irons as well. I ended up ordering mine solely off looks essentially only hitting the 545 because a guy traded in his set (don't know why anybody would ever do that). Best purchase/decision I've made in a while

I can hit my 745 just as easy as my Ap2's and I25's. I don't think my S55's were as easy to hit though. But I am only going by memory here because it has been about 8 months since I had them. I just never got the confident feeling with my S55's as I do with the 745's.

I have 710 AP2s w/ PXI 6.0s in them. Took the 545s for a test drive w/ Nippon 950gh stiff shafts. I currently hit my AP2 5 iron 180 yds with a tendency to hook as a miss. The 545 5 iron was carrying 210 yds at 2* stronger loft. That shouldn't equate to 30 yds gained. The 545 long irons are so good but I feel they don't spin enough with approach shots. Could be the shaft or winter greens....

I am just not feeling the KBS shafts. My good friend Russ757 has made me a deal I cannot refuse. He has a set of Super Peening Blues, one of my favorites, and will reshaft for me. I have seen pictures of his work and am confident he will do me right. I am trying to decide on a color combination and Russ offered to sanitize my blades like his. do I sanitize or not? Let's here some opinions.

I am thinking NDMC grips , Black and Yellow to match my bag. Also black ferrules with yellow rings. Any thoughts?? The Patriot grips look great.

i still say go with the golf pride cp2 blue grips and blue ferrules, will help your ladys hands with vibration and feel

Sorry to hijack this thread. It looks like folks are comparing the 745s to the AP2 irons. Would it be fair to then compare the 545s to the AP1 irons or are the a little more players iron than the GI AP1?

I am only going by what I have read, seen, and some hits but I would think the 545's would sit between the Ap2's and the Ap1's.

What is making them so special is the looks. Meaning for example, you will have the Ap2's look with the forgiveness of the Ap1's. When you get into irons that are this easy to hit, you give up a good looking iron. They will have lots of offset and be chunky. The 545's offer you the best of both.

I have the 545 and had the 714 ap1 and 714 ap2, the head size is probably a little bigger than ap2 but with similar offset. They are more forgiving than ap2 and close to ap1 but in a smaller head, the distance is longer with the 545 than both of the others.

Tried some 50 series out for a while but found the end caps had a tendency to twist during the swing. Spoke with someone at No1 and they admitted this is a known issue and even sent me some replacements to address. While the customer service was great the product was not worth it in my opinion.
