30 pages and it looks like he was drugged and robbed. So, while drugged he mixed up his location and details of the story that he was mostly repeating from eyewitnesses having no memory himself.

Having been drugged I empathize. I got very lucky that I didn't feel the effects too greatly until I had locked myself back into my hotel room alone, but it could have easily ended very similarly.

It seems the biggest lesson is not to be a total a'hole or you don't get any sympathy when you're a victim. And, to make the cut of course.
